“In Dreams” is a short surreal comedy drama film. This film explores ideas of friendship and communication. It’s about the opinions you form when your friendship is heading in an unhealthy direction because you can’t or won’t talk about the underlying issues. The film is all of these things… just taken to a ridiculous level. “In Dreams” is about two friends, Arthur and Kay, who find themselves sharing the same dream. They meet odd characters that exist in Kay’s psyche, but after spending some time in the same dreamspace, they find out that their friendship is teetering on the edge. It’s a surreal and stylistic film that dives into the weird world of dreams by jumping from normal looking colour scenes to surreal vivid black and white.
This film is being made as the final project of our Master of Fine Arts degree at Victoria University of Wellington. The funding from this campaign will be used to cover production costs such as catering, transport, props/set design, locations and paying cast and creatives.
Director Profile: William Cho is a director, cinematographer and photographer from Wellington. He’s been making films since high school and has taken part in several 48 hour filmmaking competitions. Influenced by filmmakers and cinematographers such as Spike Jonze and Hiro Murai, he is in love with the process and the technicality of the art. He wants to make playful films that experiment with interesting visuals combined with meaningful stories that audiences can feel and relate to.
Producer Profile: Daniela Colossi is a Brazilian hybrid artist, fluctuating between Cinema, Theater and Performing Arts. Her search for creativity and art leads her to innovative, passionate and artistic projects.
Producer Profile: Josh Dale is a cinematographer, editor and just generally keen guy from Wellington. Making films since high school in a variety of ways has been a good challenge, and he’s always keen to see what the next one may be.
