BAMM! We've successfully reached our target thanks to all our pledgers. If you missed out and still want to be part of the awesomeness, please check out our other fundraisers-

Introduction

Tiny Toones  (www.tinytoones.org) is a local Cambodian drop in centre dedicated to supporting the most disadvantaged children and youth in Phnom Penh. Through education and the creative arts it aims to empower young people to live healthy lives free from drugs, HIV and exploitation. Tiny Toones mentoring program sees a group of the original young dancers and rappers (now aged 16-25yrs) who grew up through the centre as young children, now teaching their craft to the next generation of youth.

Hip hop based, they have formed an incredible performance crew of 8 breakdancers and 3 rappers who have choreographed their own piece showcasing their true lifestories of drug and alcohol abuse, exploitation, violence, shattered dreams and hope for a better future.

Tiny Toones NZ Debut

Why we need you!

In Jan 2012, all 5 shows in Melbourne sold out and now we want to bring them here to Auckland for the first time ever for you!

To get them here, we need your support.

Due to arrive on 19th April 2012, we have just under 1 month to raise the rest of the funds to get them here. Please make a donation of whatever you can afford.

Help us make history!

Tiny Toones will tour local high schools, host community workshops and perform a 90min public theatre performance, showcasing their true-life stories of living in a post-war nation common to many, born into extreme poverty and growing up on the streets of Cambodia.

This tour will help raise funds for Tiny Toone’s programmes in Cambodia, give our local youth an outside perspective and empower them to rise above daily struggles.

2 more days!

14/03/2012 at 9:47 PM

For all those last minute keen beans, we've decided to extend our deadline for 2 more days because we're close...yet still far from reaching our target. (cup half full/half empty?)

So please give towards a wonderful cause today if you haven't already. All it takes is sacrificing a couple of coffees in the days ahead and think about how awesome I'd be to say you played a part in bringing the first generation of Cambodian hip hop artists to NZ for the first time! You are helping us to make history.

Thank you if you've already pledged your support - don't forget to like and share :)

ECSTATIC.

14/03/2012 at 5:17 AM

A month ago, we submitted a NZ visa application for my good friend KK, founder of Tiny Toones Cambodia- born in Thai refugee camp, grew up California gang-banging, made some mistakes, did his time in prison, got kicked out of the US in 2004, since then has created a safe haven for thousands of vulnerable youth in Cambodia and kept them off the streets.

2 weeks ago, got a phone call informing me that despite the forest of paperwork we submitted to try override his past criminal convictions and deportation, he will most likely not be let into NZ.

Yet we still believed and pushed through.

Today, I received news that it's been APPROVED! Thank you GOD and everyone who helped and supported us in the process!

The show MUST go on now- please help us raise the rest of the funds to make this tour possible. 3 days left- almost therr!! Please make a pledge now or pass along - Thanks :)

BIG THANKS

13/03/2012 at 11:51 AM

Wahoo! We're over halfway to reaching our target :)

Thank you sooooooo much to everyone whose pledged so far - your support means the world to us and the Tiny Toones crew.

With just a few more days to go - please continue to share this link with everyone you know, even that random stalker person whose been trying to befriend you on facebook...you never know.

Huge thanks on behalf of Tiny Toones NZ Tour Committee

Lisa
