"Our vision is to create a meaningful holiday for you starting now. To nurture your commitment to a vacation today into a grassroots project supporting COVID struck families in Samoa tomorrow.

Extreme financial hardship at the hands of COVID is quickly becoming Samoa’s new norm.

This reality means that already present conditions of high malnutrition, rising non-communicable diseases, financial fragility and inadequate opportunities for better livelihoods, are worsening at an alarming rate.

‘Sowful Journeys’ seeks to change this trajectory by calling on you to pay a portion of your holiday today, and in return receive hospitality related credits and rewards, notwithstanding the pure joy of knowing that your contribution will directly fund a COVID recovery effort empowering Samoan families in need.

• STEP 1: PLEDGE a desired amount $ to a COVID recovery solution
• STEP 2: RECEIVE resort credits, gifts and bonuses back in return
• STEP 3: SHARE the campaign to help us exceed our minimum target NZD$100,000 
• STEP 4: JOURNEY WITH US in supporting hardship struck families across Samoa

TIER 1: Spend NZD$50 or more

• Receive “50% of the total $ value” of donations back in “non-expiring“ resort credits at Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa” (Valid for use on hotel services i.e. Accommodation, Food & Beverage, Spa Services)

TIER 2: Spend NZD$100 or more

• Go into a Draw to “WIN a 7 Night Holiday for 2” at Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa traveling Samoa Airways (Accomodation & Flights included). To be drawn on 25.12.20. 
• Plus: Tier 1 (All eligible reward tiers are combinable)

TIER 3: Spend NZD$200 or more

• Receive a “a guaranteed upgrade” to the next category room for all accommodation booked at Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa
• Plus: Tier 1 & 2 (All eligible reward tiers are combinable)

TIER 4: Spend NZD$300 or more

• Receive a complimentary “30 minute massage for 2” at ‘Tui I Lagi Spa’ (Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa)
• Plus: Tier 1, 2 & 3 (All eligible reward tiers are combinable)

TIER 5: Spend NZD$500 or more

• Receive “2 days free rental vehicle hire” with Rapid Rentals if staying at Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa
• Receive a “10% discount voucher” flying with Samoa Airways (valid for 24 months)
• Plus: Tier 1, 2, 3 & 4 (All eligible reward tiers are combinable)

TIER 6: Spend NZD$1000 or more

• Receive “75% of the total $ value” of donations back in “non-expiring“ resort credits at Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa” (Valid for use on hotel services i.e. Accommodation, Food & Beverage, Spa Services)
• Receive an “extra 5% discount voucher” flying with Samoa Airways (Valid for 24 months)
• Receive a “$200 shopping credit” with retailer Eveni Carruthers (Valid for 24 months)
• Plus: Tier 2, 3, 4 & 5 (All eligible reward tiers are combinable)

TIER 7: Spend NZD$1500 or more

• We promise to “plant a native tree” at carbon offsetting site Togitogiga Reserve Samoa. Plants will be named with donors tag and can be visited at any time
• We ask YOU our supporters, what “IN-KIND reward” you would like for your donation. We then go to work to identify the best means of making these “wishes” come true (non-binding)
• Receive an “extra $200 shopping credit” with retailer Eveni Carruthers (Valid for 24 months)
• Plus: Tier 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 (All eligible reward tiers are combinable)

Important Note: All pledgers will receive an automatic email detailing how to claim their eligible rewards and bonuses a week following the campaign end date 6th December 2020.

Sowful Journeys, is a partnership between one of Samoa's longest serving local resorts 'Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa' and widely successful grassroots NGO 'Poutasi Development Trust'.

With a combined 35 year track record in delivering quality service and rural community development projects, this proven partnership, is the credible collaboration needed in pioneering a daring community first initiative of this nature.

But dont just take our word for it, see for yourself the solutuions we have co-created with the communities of Falealili and Siumu Destricts (with the possibility of others funding dependent) whom will directly benefit from the power of your pledge. 

Solution 1: Feeding Families

The first solution seeks to provide 1 x free healthy meal per day to primary school children at lower decile schools (Poutasi Manumalo Centre to begin), whilst prioritizing the sourcing and use of local farmer produce. Complimented by healthy food education programs and regular monitoring, the project seeks to take a holistic approach to introducing affordable quality eating habits to the lives of Samoan kids and their families. By helping to nourish our youth, invest in and inform our communities, we hope to reduce the financial burden in a way that also begins to address the overall health & wellness of future generations.

Solution 2: Raising Villages

The second solution seeks to build capacity around identified areas of need and increase the self-sufficiency of local families starting with the Siumu and Falealili Destricts. By crafting out specific workshops, programs and partnerships that focus on relevant skills development, we hope to engage grass roots in progression planning that builds safer communities and more economically prosperous futures post COVID.

• C. “Financial Literacy & Future Planning” programs/ workshops
• D. “Network & Business Incubator” programs/ workshops

Solution 3: Rejuvinating Ecologies

The third solution seeks to give back to the environments that we so often take for granted by piloting environmental projects that seek to stimulate greater greener employment across Samoa. By prioritising the importance of these ecologies, we hope to conserve the moanas or environments that have and continue to provide for us during challenging times by encouraging more localised sustainable fishing, farming and recycling practices and enterprise that will prove ever more important to our long-term island existence.

• C. Waste Management Project
• D. Margrove Carbon Offsetting Initiative 
• E. “Nested Systems & Ecologies” programs/ workshops

Solution 4: Virtual Tip Jar 

The fourth and final solution simply seeks to ensure the mid to long term employment of our valued community members. In an industry where up to 90% of the workforce have lost their jobs and in a locale (the Southern Coast of Upolu Island) where 98% of commerce relies on tourism, our hope is to sustain and employ more rurally based men, women and children through these projects, in turn giving us all a little something extra to smile about.

• B.   Social Enterprise & Project Delivery Training 

It is important to note that 100% of all funds received will go towards the delivery of Solutions 1-4.

Our promise is to ensure and maintain absolute transparency throughout this funding exercise, the use of funds and roll-out of all projects. To keep our supporters and the general public well informed of our progress and the impact had so as to ensure that your input directly empowers the people that need it most.
