Naomi - Short Film
Project 2020-08-18 16:41:50 +1200
Naomi is a short dramatic film that follows a young girl urgenting searching for medical supplies in a post-apocalyptic town, to save her dying brother. It will be shot in the beautiful bushlands of Otaua at the site of the Westcoast Airsoft Rangers Club! The film has themes of coming of age, adapting and surviving, and learning to let go.Β
For our third and final year at university, my project partner Finn and I are required to make a short film! Although a university project, this is something Finn and I are passionate about, as becoming filmakers is something we hope to one day achieve professionally. We hope through the help of donors, Naomi can come to life and showcase our love for the art. Our vision is to create this short dramatic film, and present it to our university tutors, and any potential audience that loves creative filmaking! We are currently in the pre-production stage and have scouted our location, finalized the script and are in the casting process.
Our team mainly consists of myself (Ryan Grubb) as the producer of the film, and Finn Dobson as the Director. However, this project is much bigger than just us two. We have recruited the help of David Parry (Camera), Frankie Myers (Sound), Freya Sturm (Production Design/Makeup), Brie Krissansen (Assistant Director) and James Nicholson (Executive Producer). We are all third year university students, besides James, who is our paper tutor. We are looking to graduate with a degree in communications at the end of the year.
The money we raise will go towards:
- Gas and Travel funds to and from our location in Otaua
- Food and Drink for our actors and crew
- Makeup, Props and Set Design
- Promotional material of the film (Posters, Advertisements)
- Submission into competitions such as film festivals
Most of the physical film equipment will be provided to us by our university, AUT
