WHO AM I?

My name is Laurent Youmndingouetmoun, originally from France - with origins from Cameroon as well - I moved to Christchurch 4 years ago and haven’t looked back since, I love it here. I have had a passion for videography since my teenage years, and what started as a hobby, became more serious and has now become a career. I mainly produce promotional videos for businesses and events but my true passion lies with the outdoors and travels. Although Nerf Hill won’t be about travels, it will take place in a very scenic location. I think every videographer out there at some point dreams of shooting his own film. So this is a new challenge for me and I would love for you to be part of it.

WHAT IS NERF HILL?

The idea came to me while I was walking in Castle Hill and thought “This would be a great playground for a Nerf gun battle.” And what started as a random thought on a sunny Saturday afternoon, evolved into the goal to produce a short film and involve local artists to help me bring this project to life. 

Nerf Hill will be a fun and exciting short film of about 5 minutes; The main character, Carlos, is trying to put his hands on a bag containing extremely valuable items. But he is about to be confronted to great challenges as he is not the only one looking for the bag, and most importantly, said bag is well guarded by a herd of ferocious people and their leader; The Keepers.

WHO IS INVOLVED?

Earlier this year, I started renting a space from The Exchange Christchurch. It is a co-working space where a lot of very talented artists have their studio. And the talents are diverse. We have Federico, a photographer, who will be taking stills throughout the shoot, Elody and Kerri who are clothing creators and designers who will make us some great costumes, Harry will be the second videographer helping on the shoot as well as getting some behind the scenes shots, Kophie the graphic designer, will create a poster that, depending on your pledge, we will be happy to send your way, and a video editor, Shea, who will help me edit the main video as well as the behind the scenes

WHAT WILL THE MONEY GO TOWARDS?

All those people I just mentioned above, that is what they do for a living, so any amount of time they spend helping me on this project, it is time they don’t spend working on other projects. If I could, I would handle the costs myself, because I know what the struggle can be to be an independent artist and it is important to me to be able to help my fellow creators out there as much as I can. That is why I am asking you to be part of this fun adventure. Any amount you can give will help tremendously.

But paying artists, is not the only costs involved in this project. Here is a list of what the money will go towards :

• Food and Drinks for cast & crew
• Clothings, props and accessories
• Nerf guns 
• Transportation to location
• Gear hire

Any amount of money we can raise above our minimum goal will be used towards post production, hiring better gears, as well as hiring more people to help us on the shoot, like a hair and make-up artist.

Note that most clothing to create the costumes will be purchased from second hand stores and family stores like the Red Cross or the Salvation Army.
