Collab Project with Fringe

The Wellington Fringe Festival is an open-access festival held every summer involving a wide range of shows across all artforms in venues throughout the city.

Based on a true story, this one woman play follows Freya Desmarais in her journey to rock bottom and back. This ‘mental’ drama/comedy is coloured by life lessons that apply to anyone who has ever felt unsure of themselves (hint: everybody. So it’s real good and stuff eh and you can totally relate to it. Not that you should feel unsure of yourself, because you're unbelievably fabulous. Don't forget it.)

Directed by relative newcomer Penny Lawrence and produced by Abby Rainbow (yes that is her real last name), Home sets out to address the serious and extremely topical issues of depression, suicide and mental illness in New Zealand – how we deal with it as individuals, as a community and as a nation (spoiler alert: ah, not really that well tbh. Like no offense.)

Beginning in darkness and making the journey back to light, Home is a deeply personal story that pulls no punches, and is told with an absolute commitment to truth, humour and true love – the love you must find for yourself. Nawww.

We want this to be great and to make it great we need the funds - this is where you and Pledge Me come in!

Our goal is $1500 – this is to enable us to to get from Wellington to Auckland with all our set (which includes a bath – thanks for that stage direction, Freya!) as well as afford rehearsal spaces, petrol for the road trip AND all the bits and pieces that will help Home be brought to a wider (and more northern) audience! We also would love to be able to harness the ability to incorporate projection mapping into the set, cool eh? It will be some spunky, seeeexy theatre. I bet you want that in your life, right? Right? But we need your help to get it in your life! So badly! Spice up your theatre life and help us get this Little Play That Could to Auckland!

THANK YOU YOU ARE THE BEST AND THAT TOP LOOKS GREAT ON YOU BY THE WAY IT REALLY SUITS YOUR EYES IT MAKES THEM POP YOU’RE SO GLAMOUROUS YOU’RE LIKE FERGIE (the popstar not the divorcee) OMG LUVOOO XOXOXOX seriously though let’s get married. …After you’ve made a pledge. xx
