About

Polynesian Experience Or Poly X

Project 2019-08-24 23:40:47 +1200

The Poly X offering is based on providing the following:
1. Poly Xtravaganaza (multi-cultural dancing).
For the first time, we provide an opportunity to take an audience through our collective history as Polynesians being woven through live dances and songs from over 150 dancers over 6 Island Nations. Maori, Samoa, Tonga, Hawaii, Fiji and the Cook Islands.

2. Poly CuiXine (high end Polynesian buffet).
Hosted at the Skycity will be a buffet of high quality authentic Polynesian food where tourists can experience the aroma and flavours of Polynesia.

3. Personalised Poly Xperience (tours).  A personalised tour into the heart of Polynesian communities.
Tourists have an opportunity to engage in local community activities directly to have a more embedded experience. • Shopping experience for Pacific fashion and arts & crafts • Preparation of traditional Polynesian food for tourists to experience first-hand (hangi & umu) • One on one, tailored tutorials on how to dance or weave and traditional and modern Pacific Island tatau or tattoo exibitions.

Our vision is to provide a sustainable opportunity for Pacific peoples to prosper.

Our mission is to impact:
1. Economic Development: Commercial and business partnerships with catering companies, tour operators and brokers, facilities and associated suppliers will benefit financially and increase employment opportunities through consistent supply of services provided throughout the Poly X calendar of events. It will also provide a steady source of income for community-based organisations through the sale of arts & crafts and one on one dance lessons. Poly X is placed as a natural catchment for youth who participate in Polyfest for employment purposes as well as providing a pathway further training and development opportunities.

2. Cultural Preservation: The product offerings will help preserve and promote awareness about the diverse Polynesian cultures and experience.

3. Social Development: Bringing cultural ìtogether promotes social cohesion and collaboration. This allows for pathways for people to work collaboratively on projects or ideas that could stem out of Poly X.

4. Charitable Support: Supporting Pacific charitable organisations such as the Pacific Settlement Support will be a priority as part of Poly X’s corporate social responsibility.

A testament to the team is the 200 plus  people already involved in realising the vision to establish a Polynesian tourism offering from Auckland City, to the world.

After 3 years of successful operations, LAUSD approached JL with an offer to acquire the program to be implemented & offer throughout the whole district.  Not satisifed with the growth of the program, JL created an afterschool cadet program available for students across the region spanning from 18 different HS and 9 cities from throughout the L.A. County Region.
The success of this program, led to the Los Angeles Unified School Police to approach JL to merge & absorb this program as an opportunity for these students to work directly & volunteer with the police department.  Gaining insight in how the career path looks like in law enforcement, volunteering in the community and being mentored directly by police officers, JL saw the value in taking his cadet program & allowing it to be absorbed into the LA School Police Departments efforts to reach out & help youth.  This program is known as the LA School Police Explorer Program.
