Keith Locke (former Green MP)
My longest oral history interview yet!
Help me annotate a 14 hour interview with former Green MP Keith Locke. The project was initially voluntary but now I'd like to submit this to the Alexander Turnbull Library archives. It will also help Keith write his own story and contribute to a larger history of the Green movement here in Aotearoa New Zealand. Here is what Keith has to say about the project:
"I found it a very worthwhile experience being interviewed by Ruth and I am sure the result will be of considerable value to many people engaged with our political history. Ruth's questions along the way were quite penetrating and prompted me to elaborate a lot more than I otherwise would have. Like all the best oral histories the resulting tapes provide a good mix of the personal, social and political – in this case over many decades.
I will find the tapes valuable myself, for the political history I intend to write. They will be a useful reference point for me and also contain some good quotes which flow from the unrehearsed, spontaneous answers I gave to Ruth's questions. The dialogue dredged out of my mind some long forgotten, but important, experiences."
I am a freelance oral historian - with 14 years experience. I have undertaken many oral history projects in the past in areas of environmentalism, peace and more. Please refer to: www.tapestries.co.nz or look me up on facebook. Thank you for your support.
