Help Wellington Rape Crisis Move To Our New Office!

Project 2019-02-11 09:33:09 +1300

After nearly a decade, Wellington Rape Crisis has outgrown its office and is moving across the street to a new home on 21 February. We’ll have more space for clients and staff, and purpose-built, sound-proofed counselling rooms for our clients. Our landlord is kindly paying for renovations, but we still need to cover the cost of moving and outfitting the new space. More space also means we need new furniture to fill it, and some of our old equipment and furniture could use updating too.

A warm, welcoming space is important for helping our clients feel safe and secure, and we need your support to make our new home the best it can possibly be. Your donations will help us move in and set up quickly so we can get back to supporting survivors of sexual violence. Help us furnish and decorate our counselling rooms, our waiting area, boardroom, kitchen, and offices by adopting a piece of furniture, equipment, or even an entire counselling rooom. We'll acknowledge all our supporters with a thank you email from Bertie, the fluffiest member of our team, and your name on a wall of supporters to be displayed in our new waiting room. Silver supporters will also be invited to join us for the opening ceremony of the new space, and gold and platinum supporters will have their name on the item or room they sponsor.

Any funds raised above our target will go back into funding our services not covered by government grants, including our drop in centre and clients who do not qualify for ACC funded-counselling.

This campaign marks the start of our Annual Appeal, so if you’re not able to donate now, you can also support us by donating to our street appeal at the end of March, hosting a collection at your workplace, or by attending one of the special fundraising events hosted by local businesses - follow us on Facebook or Twitter for the latest details, or contact us at [email protected] if you'd like to discuss other ways to support our work.

One week to go!

05/03/2019 at 6:02 PM

Kia ora,

Huge thank yous to everyone who's pledged to our office move campaign so far. The team is settling into the new space and getting a good sense of what they still need to make the most of it. We've been here for over a week now and have almost stopped accidentally heading to the wrong building in the morning.

Kyla was interviewed by PledgeMe and featured on their blog last week - have a read for more background on why our services and space are so important to survivors.

Check out some photos from the move:

The six new counselling rooms are starting to be transformed into warm, cosy, and safe places for our clients, but they could use a bit more sprucing up to really feel like home. Perhaps you know a business who might be interested in sponosoring one of them?

The wall of our waiting room is ready for a new sign acknowleding all our generous pledgers.

With a week left in the campaign, we're almost to our target! If you're able to share the campaign page with your networks or perhaps pass it on to a supportive business who might be keen for one of the larger rewards, we'll be forever grateful. Stay tuned for more updates from the new space, including details of our official opening celebration. Thank you again to everyone who's pledged so far - we couldn't do it without you.
