River Ghost

Project 2019-01-03 10:15:44 +1300

All he remembers clearly is a nightmare: the river, the water; struggling against the current and the cold...

Love a good ghost story? We have another treat in store for you! The new play “River Ghost” written by our very own David Allen is an intense and absorbing piece of theatre. This intricate supernatural thriller is set in 19th century New Zealand, on the banks of Waimakariri, river of cold rushing water... and the beautiful Rangiora Town Hall is a perfect space for premiering this tale!

NO Productions Theatre is a small independent theatre company based in Christchurch. This project builds upon the experience and success of our previous productions such as Turn of the ScrewWoman in BlackUnforgottenA Picasso and Nevermore. You might have seen us around – in 2018 alone we delivered six theatre projects at seven different Christchurch venues!

The Rangiora Town Hall is booked for two performances of “River Ghost” on 15 and 16 March 2019, and we will be starting our rehearsals shortly. We are determined to create a new high quality theatre experience for Canterbury audiencesand need only one addition to our team - your support!

The show will be directed by the renowned Eilish Moran, with two leading parts performed by the company’s core members David Allen and Nataliya Oryshchuk. The lighting design will be created by another of the company’s core members, Michael Adams.

What is the show about?  He has lost his memory. She has him back. They are husband and wife, she says. He is safe, she says. So why lock the door at the top of the stairs? What is hidden in the walls? And why is his only memory a nightmare of cold, rushing water?

On the mighty Waimakariri, water isn’t the only danger…

What your pledge will go towards:

- Set and props
- Sound equipment

- Marketing and publicity

- Performance venue hire

Our goal - $500 - is not going to cover all these expenses, but it will definitely help us to ensure the quality staging of the production. Can you help us to create the eerie world of “River Ghost” and share it with Canterbury audiences? Let’s make it happen!

As our performances tend to sell out, our rewards are an excellent way to secure your tickets at *early bird price*, and support independent New Zealand theatre!
