Updates

ONLY $2700 to go and 36 hours!

We've now also included a guided tour reward for $60 and dropped the price of our group guided snorkel to $600 for 12 people! Get your team out into the blue!

Thanks for all your support Wellington!

Our Impact

Our programmes have big impacts on young people and help generate a deep connection to their local environment, helping them step out of their comfort zones, develop some great in-water skills and learn a heap of cool stuff along the way.

We deliver our programmes at low cost to schools and fund-raise each year to reach communities and kids that might otherwise miss out - but the on-going costs of new snorkel equipment, petrol and vehicles are a big part of the expenses we need to cover for us to keep up our work connecting local kids to their waters.

Our Team

Our Team

The Mountains to Sea Wellington team has been working across Wellington for the past 10 years delivering the national Experiencing Marine Reserves and Healthy Harbours programmes for schools and communities. We also host heaps of free community snorkels in summer and have geared up over 15,000 snorkellers in the past decade.

We want to help people connect to and care for their coastlines and to generate support for marine reserves, rahui and sustainable fisheries to ensure these amazing places and biodiversity are here for the future.

What we need

We work right across Wellington - from Kapiti to Wairarapa and to the south coast of Wellington. Currently our Coordinators personal vehicles in the Porirua and Kapiti region are filled to the brim with wetsuits, boogie boards, masks, snorkels and fins. They're all rusting to pieces and our backs are sore! We need a good long-term solution.

The wonderful folks at Billabong have done an amazing job building our prototype Wellington Trailer which was completed last year, but it's too busy to service the Porirua and Kapiti region too -  and that's where we really need your help.

Our existing Wellington Trailer

The second Trailer constrution is underway - but we're still fund-raising for just under half of the Trailer costs and we need a sturdy second hand 4WD truck to tow it. We've managed to raise $10,000 so far but we're still $15,000 short to complete the project, and are also seeking $5,000 to fund the maintenance, petrol, on-road and insurance costs to cover the thousands of kilometers our marine educators travel to reach schools across the region.

Help us out!

Thanks for considering helping us out. Your money will be put to good use and help provide many inspiring experiences for our regions young people. You'll also become part of MTSW's work and can keep up to date with our events and project stories, connecting with the conservation work young people are a part of in Wellington. We'd also love to have you join us for snorkel experiences and projects.

If we go beyond our target

If we are lucky enough to reach our goal we'll be sorted for our transport and equipment needs. If we manage to raise more this will directly go to helping provide low cost programmes to schools who would otherwise struggle to meet the costs. We'll publish and share those schools journey's along the way.

You can also keep up to date with this summers delivery, community snorkle events and schools at our facebook page: Mountains To Sea Wellington

$5000 to go! 6 days! Can we do it!

13/12/2018 at 10:36 AM

Thank you PLEDGERS!

You are AMAZING! We've raised $15,200 raised so far.  Thank you for your incredible support.

We've been having such a busy snorkel season the time has flown by, but with only 6 days to go there is definitely a bit of nail biting happening... If we can raise $800 a day for the next 6 days we'll be there!

This equipment will make a MASSSIVE difference for us - we don't have an office, we have our trailers and trucks and we go where the action is (out to our beautiful rivers and coasts).

If you've a moment and you believe in our work, please share our campaign with friends and family - there are some great Christmas adventures to be had with us - wetsuit hire at the marine reserve, priority places and hot showers at the community snorkel days, guided tours and birthday parties.

We've also got a super cool opportunity for corporate and birthday groups to spend an afternoon with us team building, beach cleaning, snorkelling, BBQing, story telling and soaking up the goodness of our coastline. It's just $800 for 14 people for an afternoon together.  A great way to bond your team or get out for an awesome birthday/group adventure.

We hope to see you at our Community Snorkel this weekend at Taputeranga Marine Reserve- Wellington on the 15th of December if you can make it. Conditions are looking great! Please check out the details at https://www.facebook.com/events/730708340598845/

A quick reminder to those NUDIBRANCH Pledgers - if you and your buddy want to make a priority booking for the Community Snorkel on the 15th Dec - please contact me on [email protected] with your preferred time and we'll set you up a guide and your other goodies! (this prize can also be redeemed at any of our other Community Snorkels in the new year too).
