" Buy a Tee, Share a Story, and Give voice" .
Youth Butterflies is a social enterprise project to create youth entrepnership and employment opporunities for refugee background youths between 16 years to 28 years old. Last year, 12 young refugee backgrounds participated in organising the workshops at Mangere Refugee Resettlement camp for the kids and Tenageers. We came up with an idea of creating social conciousness by sharing our stories using clothes. Most of our clothings have no context or meanings. We took our stories, made into an art work, and intergrated with augmented reality for interactive consumer platform.
We are launching on World Refugee Day 20th June 2018.
The Summer Stand Project united a group of young people to build a youth enterprise. Summer Stand Project enabled young refugee backgrounds to hold workshops in Mangere Refugee Resettlement centre.
The Life of a young person with adverse life experiences is same as a butterfly. The life changes from a catepillar to a full grown butterfly. We all came from a different life styles, cultures and experiences. When we became a butterfly, we happen to live a new life with new challenges such as Language barriers, cultural barriers, and etc. Our life stories are valubale and resilent.
Founder and the Co-founder of Youth Butterflies have been pitching their vision in an Idea Show and Tell.
Why the project is important?.
The study Promoters and Barriers to work: a comparative study of refugees versus immigrants in the Unites states states refugees were twice as likely to be unemployed due to lack of language skills.

Empowering Refugee background youth through entrepnership is vital for building well-connected and resilent youth community.
