Fruit Trees In Schools Wairarapa
Project 2018-01-04 09:57:31 +1300
As a member of the community I have been planting fruit trees in Wairarapa schools to promote local resilience and create food forests for children to access. I have so far planted a mix of mandarin and feijoa trees in 5 Carterton schools and 3 Masterton schools. The schools were:
- Carterton School;
- Dalefield;
- Gladstone;
- South End; (in collaboration with the Wairarapa Earth School)
- St. Mary's
- Lakeview School;
- Fernridge and
- Solway Primary.
I am wanting to build upon the project and plant more trees in more schools. The aim is to target low-decile schools where food equality is an issue and access to fresh fruit often isn't an option. The aim is to expand into the Masterton area.

Planting for 2018 to take place for Arbor Day.
