About

Alistair Garland - Freeride Junior World Championships 2018

Project 2017-11-19 13:41:26 +1300

Alistair recently won the overall NZ Junior Freeride Tour 2017 and in doing so earned himself a Wildcard invitation to compete at the Freeride Junior World Championships in Austria, March 21st-23rd 2018.

Alistair started skiing at 2yrs old and lives in Wanaka with his family where he balances school work, family life, freeride training  and competing on the Euro-Oceania Tour.

His best results in competition to date have been:

5th place at the Junior World Championships - 2017

1st Place : NZ Junior Freeride Champion - 2017

Alistair is currently seeded 3rd on the World Junior Freeride rankings and 1st on the Euro-Oceania Tour 2018

This is a huge opportunity for Alistair to represent New Zealand for a second time and attempt to better his 5th place from 2017, possibly reaching the podium and even the ultimate title of World Champion.

Reality bites though, as all travel expenses from/to NZ, travel/accommodation/food in Europe, and training/competition expenses throughout the year in NZ are entirely self-funded.

Part time jobs during school holidays, diligent saving, pitching himself to equipment sponsors and assistance from family have been his sources of funding throughout his competitive career so far. Humbly reaching out to crowd funding opportunities at this stage is crucial to helping keep Alistair's pursuit of The Junior World Champion and Euro-Oceania Tour titles alive.

Whilst reaching out to crowd-funding, Alistair is also searching for brands to work with as his career in freeride skiing develops towards the ultimate goal of qualifying as an athlete on The Freeride World Tour. If you or anyone you might know could be interested in sponsoring Alistair as an athlete, please do check out his facebook page or website www.ajg-ski.com and get in touch.

Thank you! :)
