We need you! Do you love Brazilian culture? Are you interested in the history and art form of capoeira? Are you interested in supporting the Brazilian community in Aotearoa, or want to learn more about it?
The Casa do Engenho Capoeira Group of Auckland University would like to host a VERY special Graduation event in November 2017!! All of the hard work, training and practice of the past year will be finally pay off as our students hopefully graduate with their first belts, and the senior students progress to their next belts. This will be a moment to share with our various communities the art of capoeira, it's significant history and the values and practices that it teaches all of its students.
In order to do this we are bringing over one of the most knowledgeable and senior Mestre's in Brazil to guide us through this process and take our training to the next level. And you can learn with him too!!
Those who contribute will be invited to join us for the Graduation and enjoy music, arts, performances and learning from masters of Capoeira and other dances such as Samba. Anyone is welcome to watch our performances in the final graduation!!
We are a large group of students from the Auckland University and non-university students who have come together with Mestre Mario to create a capoeira community which is open to all and trains the body, soul and mind to be strong and humble.
We have a organising committee of three university students and staff including Rishi Adiga, Olivia Barnett-Naghshineh and Emily Thyberg who work with Mestre Mario to organise events, performances and shows and are often taking part in cultural events and festivals throughout Aotearoa. Contact us at Casa de Engenho Facebook page for more info.
