About Theatre training for Active
Project 2017-07-11 11:17:06 +1200
Wonderplay and Active are joining forces to provide five, free, monthly theatre and performance workshops to intellectually disabled actors and theatre enthusiasts.
"I want to do drama because it's good exercise for my body and brain.'
Active is a group set up by IHC offshoot IDEA to empower young adults who have an intellectual disability, to be active citizens and valued members of their communities.
Our collective is a bunch of individuals with a passion for drama. It can be a challenge to find supportive community groups that can help us achieve our dreams. We want to change the face of NZ Stage and Screen, to make it more representative and to look and sound like us.
"Drama, gives us confidence, movement, developing pieces of work, scripts, props, coordination helps us tell stories and practice speech."
"I do drama at the moment but would like to try more challenging styles, help with movement and show you how to do it properly"
"I want to do drama to help me speak more clearly"
Actor/Director, Deborah Rea of Wonderplay and Young Actors will be facilitating free monthly workshops taught by local theatre makers, actors and performance artists.
The workshops are not for profit. Funds received will go towards facilitation costs and koha for guest tutors any extra funding will secure further workshops
