The Uncertainty Principle

Project 2012-10-04 17:35:16 +1300

The Uncertainty Principle is a play I wrote after completing my Masters in playwrighting at Victoria University. It's a play about science and religion and the nature of knowing, balanced out with some engaging characters, fun action sequences and cracking dialogue. I initially wanted to perform it at a lecture theatre at Auckland Uni but after being turned down there I asked at Ponsonby Baptist Church. Bravely, they agreed.

Good on you, Ponsonby Baptist Church!

The play is registered to take place as part of the Auckland Fringe Festival next February and I have secured an experienced director named Luke Thornborough to helm the production. Now I just need to raise about $4000 to cover the venue, set, tech and publicity. I'm hoping to secure $1000 towards that overall budget through PledgeMe.

Me, lowering the tone at The Globe a few years ago.

When I wrote this play, I wanted to capture the joy of pondering the big questions, of weighing up beliefs and certainties, of debating and arguing, of changing your mind and being proven wrong. I often think of it as a late-night conversation around the dregs of a University party, masquerading as a piece of theatre. I've secured a unique and exciting venue, and I've got an experienced yet energetic young director. I hope you'll help me get the money together to make sure we can achieve a high standard of production, and get as many people as possible along to see it.
