TIKI-X: First P.I SCI-FI Web Series

Project 2017-06-04 21:09:34 +1200

"In a not too distant future, the human race  all live on remote islands. Wearing their TK suits, Tiki's are adventurers sent to explore the lost lands of Aotearoa. A lone Tiki must confront his past, and a terrible secret, in order to unlock his fate"

Tiki-x823

The good news is we have already made the first episode which was released as an independent short film.  It was called Tiki-X823 and is the name of the series.

We made this on a shoe string budget under extreme pressure with a crew of about three people; it is now showing in film festivals around New Zealand.

Now we want to create the rest.

The goal is to do the series in parts with bigger and better production values as it progresses, so we are making the 2nd episode of the series and maybe the third.

A shot from Tiki-x823

The first episode dealt with the initial premise that a strange telepathic sickness killed the last bastion of a lost civilization and has infected Tiki-Rangi with its crazyness.  This was experiment 823.  Tiki’s adventures, as he seeks the origin of this incident, roughly are retellings of old Polynesian and Maori myths about the tiki and other figures such as Maui with elements of modern and futuristic ideas. Eventually it will incorperate Tongan, Maori, Samoan, Niuean, Tokelaun and Chinese languages.

Tiki looking at Sunset

The second episode will be called “Tiki Fe’e: Thanks for all the fish”.  A working title.  It is loosely based around Maui and his stealing of fire and holds themes of family, conservation and nuclear fusion. The locations are a bit more expanded, there are more actors.  We can only improve but we need your help.

Our team includes most of those who worked on our last film, including Sefa Taouma (music), Luana (production co-ordinator), He Yi (translation) and Eddie Huan (actor).

The upcoming team will include more fresh faces such as prop whiz kid Dean Reynalds (whose worked on feature films) and quite a few others who have said they are really keen but who probably need a few carrots and then a stick.

Thankyou all who contributted to the Tiki-x823 web series pledgeme campaign.  It was a astounding success.  At the end we were able to raise 1500 to make a start of I’m hoping will be a really cool project.  To Sean Shadbolt, Andrew Manning, Bing Chen, Luana Taouma, Patrick Ah Kuoi, Ngaire Fuata, Cam Swainson-Whaanga, linh luong, Stephen Stehlin, Italia Taouma, Joel Viliaumu, Aaron Chu, Stephanus Angelo, Mukesh Babu, Olivia Taouma, Gong Wattanapradit, Brad Freeman, Janice Taouma, Jamas Enright all of you will have a contributer’s credit and a tiki-thanx coming your way.  For individual rewards I’ll get in contact soon, once pledgeme has passed on the information.  Pre-production is going to start pretty much right away, but it will be a little while yet before shooting.  Thanks to you there’s more than enough to get rolling, will keep an updated account on our shakycoconut’s face book page and perhaps the pledgeme campaign (until we can set up a website).  You all get to see the finished product before everyone else as well.  Malo, malo, malo.  Fa’afetai tele lava.
