We are the New Zealand Youth Delegation, a team of five dedicated and passionate young New Zealanders, selected to carry a voice of kiwi youth to the UN Climate Change Negotiations (COP 18) held in Doha this year. We need your support to enable us to get to this year’s conference. Doha is one of the most expensive countries in the world to visit and our 3 week stay for the conference means we need to raise approximately NZD$6500 each.

Established in 2009, NZYD maintains a strong legacy at the international summits, through positive vocal advocacy and engagement to an audience back home in Aotearoa. This continues in 2012, we remain an independent and cooperative body, urging our leaders to act in the interests of our generation. In the lead up to the negotiations we will be gathering thoughts and stories from youth around NZ to take with us. Upon our return, we also plan to share our gained knowledge and skills to empower and engage young kiwis with the defining issue of our generation.

 Many youth delegations will not be able to attend this year as the costs of staying in Doha are huge. The functional exclusion of delegations and NGOs alike is really disheartening. We are determined to get to COP 18 because of this. Through our Connected Voices project we will create a platform for a global youth voice to be represented at COP.
