Kia ora!

I'm Rika - a young mum, writer, founder of Mangawhai Youth Club, an inspirational speaker and independent youth mentor and advocate, passionate about strengthening communities and empowering young people!

I have been developing a youth empowerment workshop called 'My Voice Matters', focusing on the ideas of identity, self confidence and support aimed at young people, which I am facilitating in schools and youth groups around the country to promote youth wellbeing.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to attend Lifehack's Flourishing Fellowship; a 3-month, part-residential course of a lifetime in Wellington with 19 other Kiwis from all different sectors of the youth wellbeing system; from health, to criminal justice, to education and more! This life-changing experience will give me the network, resources and power to develop my workshop further, amplify my impact on Kiwi youth and really make a difference in Aotearoa.

Please help me get there to sharpen up my skills and knowledge to take with me back to my community to help young people flourish!

Rodney College year twelve workshop - "Loves Me Not"

01/04/2017 at 7:53 PM

It was awesome being able to facilitate another cool workshop yesterday alongside Rodney College, another admirable youth mentor and the local police, for a group of year twelve students. Another good chance for me to work with young people and gain a better understanding of their views on domestic violence, drugs, mental illness, unhealthy relationships and sexual abuse. It was also really good for me to figure out what I can improve on in my own workshops and as a mentor. Thank you, Rodney College! I can't wait to be back again. Days like these remind me of why I'm so passionate about making a difference. And now I'm even more excited and determined to attend the Flourishing Fellowship to learn more!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! 💖💖💖
