travelling to Melbourne Fashion Week 2017 as part of 

THE INDIGENOUS RUNWAY PROJECT

This years VAMFF (VIRGIN AIRLINES MELBOURNE FASHION FESTIVAL) will be held during march from the 1st until the 19th that will include THE INDIGENOUS RUNWAY PROJECT. 

This runway takes at risk youth to a higher level of self confidence and understanding giving them an experience in the fashion world that is Indigenous providing a week long training course that on completion takes them onto a major runway experience as part of the Melbourne Fashion Festival.

International  Vlogger and Bloggers attend to show the rest of the world the different aspects of this diverse Australian fashion week and promote something different. The Indigenous Runway Project aims at showing only Aboriginal, 1st Nations & Pacific Island Couture, Accessories, Shoes & ready to wear Labels that would get lost amoungt the 300 different runways that take place. 

This year Wellingtonian Dave Roil will be travelling to Melbourne to showcase his Collection of Hand Sewn Only garments both Men's and for the first time in 8yrs Womens Wear working by himself producing and promoting his kaupapa to as many people as possible.  Trying to make them aware of the need to Up Cycle what you might already have into something fantastic with a bit of imagination. Buy only what you need. Learn how to fix things yourself. Make the Planet your home not your rubbish tip of unnecessary mass produced stuff. Go Green Stay Green.   

Last year he made a huge splash with the Debut of  his Men's  Avant Garde Tail Coats of varying lengths, colours, and shapes. This year he will be launching his brand new range of women's wear that include Day Wear sets featuring millienry by Charmagne Anthony, Alumininum head Pieces by Bridget Nawalowalo and up cycled accessories from Suzanne Tamaki all culmulating in the finale' of Evening Gowns with glass bead accents hand sewn on the large trains, retro evening gloves from the 60s and antique broken necklaces sewn into skirts and jackets. Emulating the early DIOR photoshoots the new work will be worn on Indigenous models to be just as Elegant and dressed up. 

 

This is a fantastic project to be supporting - both the Indigenous youth and Designers furthering their lives and gaining reconigtion in the fashion industry and their future.
