About

Vincent Konrad's 'Taken Upper Collection'

Project 2016-11-07 19:22:16 +1300

Hullo. If you like to pick up a comic book and flick through a few pages at random, then this will be just like any other comic book for you. Except this one is playing along too. This will be the first time I have 'properly' published pictures, as opposed to just making zines.

Having had an unfinished comic sitting around for far too long, I decided not to finish it, and just try and print it as is. Furthermore, I figured I would draw new beginnings to not finish, and that expanded to middles and a couple of endings too. Freed from the burden of completion, the comics flowed quickly and easily from my pen.

Most of these are just one or two pages, representing part of some imagined comic that will never exist in its entirety. Some of them are complete stories over a few pages. Some of them are not even finished pages. Context and conclusion are left up to the reader, and if you want to draw in the empty panels, there is pretty much nothing to stop you from doing that.

Most of them are fairly inoffensive, but some of them are vulgar, so you may not want to share them with kids.

The book itself will be a little over 100 pages, on nice thick stock at SRA5 size. Funding will primarily cover printing and postage costs.

If all goes well, you will have your book(s) in time for Christmas. They would make a perfect gift for friends, enemies, and strangers. The schedule is tight, however, as the NZ Post cut-off date is 18 December, and printing will take 15 days, not counting shipping and approval. To counter this, I am ensuring that all of the files are ready to go in advance of the funding date, and that everything is prepared for packing and posting as soon as they arrive at my house.

Deliveries

Hullo!

Books are here, and, if you are lucky, books are there! Aside from a few wellington ones which I am yet to deliver, your books should arrive about now. If you ordered original artwork, you will have to wait just a little bit longer while I figure out which bit to send you. If you want more copies or know someone who does, you can email me at [email protected]. Thank you all again for being part of this momentous occasion.

Etc,

Vincent.

A slight delay

20/12/2016 at 9:11 PM

Dear everyone,

Unfortunately I have not got your books back from the printers yet, so if you are outside of Wellington they will not be there until after Christmas. Rest assured though, that they are currently in production, and I expect to have them any day now!

Fake books have been e-mailed out, let me know if you have not received yours or are having difficulty with the technical side of things. If you just find the comics themselves difficult, I'm afraid that is your own problem.

Love and apologies,

Vincent.

Proof copy has arrived!

Here are a few sneak pics of the proof copy. Needs a couple of tweaks, but we are pretty much ready to go!

We did it!

28/11/2016 at 6:36 PM

Dear everyone,

You are by now likely to be aware that the goal has been reached and everything is 'go'. I am just putting the finishing touches on editing the files, and will be sending them to the printers for proof copies tonight. Once I have the proofs and have checked them, it will go to print.

Thanks again,

Vincent.

Half way!

22/11/2016 at 1:52 PM

Hullo! Thank you all for your continued support! Here is another page just for you guys (though I guess it will also go in the book). Funding is now just a little over half way, which is good, but there are only a couple of days to go! Encourage everyone you know to pledge immediately!

Quarter of the way

Hullo, thank you all for your help so far. This is now a quarter of the way to being funded. Here is a comic about that. Please tell your friends etc, bully them if you must. I'll add another page to this comic when we get to a third!

International orders

13/11/2016 at 11:13 AM

I didn't really think about the possibility of people ordering from overseas when I started this, but I have had a couple of people do so and the suggestion that I add a reward tier they can use to cover shipping. So now there is one. A mere thirty New Zealand dollars!
