Help With Funding For Jia Yen's June Bevan 2017 Badminton Tournament Held In Tasmania, Australia
Project 2016-11-03 19:01:57 +1300
Hey, I'm Jia Yen and I'm 15. I have been selected to represent Central New Zealand in the 2017 June Bevan badminton cup. This year, it will be held in Tasmania, Australia. Apart from this, by being part of the Central NZ team for 2017, I will be entered into the Australasian U17 tournament, also held in Tasmania.
The regional team in which I play for is the Wellington North Badminton Team. I played U19 and U17 for Wellington North during Central Regions U17 and U19 team championships. Wellington North Won the U17 and placed 2nd in U19. We also won the U17 Wellington Team championships. This year, I was selected as a finalist for the College Sport Wellington Awards for Badminton.
I am very excited for this opportunity to represent my country overseas. As Badminton is not a well funded sport in New Zealand, for many tournaments, even just within the region(let alone within the country and overseas), players have to constantly fork out a lot of money to participate in tournaments and trainings.
Being provided with the oppurtunity to particapte in JB 2017, I hope to develop my skills physically and mentally, to work hard alongside my team to get a good placing. In doing so, I hope NZ will recognise badminton to be a sport with as much potential as any other.
Thank you for your support!
Jia Yen
