Getting Smart Kiwis Connected
MeshTech is a project created by a team of Market Insights students of AUT. It is essentially a resale website (similar to PriceSpy), but specialising in Internet of Things (IoT) Smart-Devices. There is NO OTHER COMPETITOR so this project is focussed with a Growth Strategy, following Apple's latest release of HomeKit (and Apple Pay) on their latest iOS10 software for Apple devices.
We aim to be New Zealand's first 'do it all' website for Smart Devices. Our very own "One Stop Shop" if you will.
Currently, there is a very low adoption rate for New Zealand consumers (who are one of the fastest technology adopting economies in the world!), and the reachability and access to these devices are very fragmented.
For Example, A consumer who wishes to buy internet-connected (IoT) lightbulbs, some new IoT blinds, and a Smart IoT Kettle - all of which can be controlled from their iPhone - which has recently been updated to support HomeKit on iOS 10. This customer may go into a retailer, such as Noel Leeming, and find 3 different brands. These brands will be expensive (such as Phillips Hue), and the variety on offer is negligible. Furthermore, this customer cannot get all three products from this retailer, so they will travel to another retailer (such as Lighting Plus) and discover that this retailer has zero options for Smart-Technology. The consumer will THEN travel to yet another retailer, and find they stock similar products, but were even more expensive than the last. The customer will go online, to discover the only 'cool' devices are unable to be delivered to NZ, or will take 8 weeks to be delivered via international postage.
MeshTech will remove this burden, and improve the attractiveness of Smart-Technology by educating customers more with what the devices can do, how they will fill an unknown need, supply a vast range of products from various retailers as well as our own exclusive products sourced from overseas. We aim to DRIVE DOWN THE COSTS of smart devices by utilising a piercing pricing strategy, and undercut major retailers. We will be a "One Stop Shop" for Smart Devices. MeshTech started out as 'just an assignment' to an extremely plausible concept. We have completed extensive research into our target market, have the latest knowledge for advertising quirks, and have a succint omni-channel marketing strategy which, according to our research, will be lucrative and polished.
Our aims are to develop a diverse, simple, and effortless experience for our consumers from the initial exposure to our website, through the decision-making process, to post-purchase feelings. With our technicians available to be called out to setup and install smart devices purchased from our website, we want our website to be synonyms with the one-stop smart-shop who put delivering consumer value at the forefront.
