Hi my name is Zen,
A few years ago my fiancé and I moved to her home town Murchison from Wellington where we began to embark on our dream of having a sustainable, environmentally friendly food caravan business focused on organic, alternative, nutritious, healthy vegan / vegetarian meals.
Over the last couple of years we've had a stall at the local market and events which have done really well and we already know that our food caravan will be a successful addition to the town.
Murchison has around 3000 vehicles passing through per day in summer and we would like to provide travellers and locals with alternative food options which are currently not available in this area.
We'd like to bring foods, from different parts of the world to this town.
We have already proven this to be a great success at the local market.
Having the caravan allows for catering around the top of South Island at occasions such as alternative weddings, birthday parties and other events.
I have designed the food caravan in a way that means we can cook anything. We are not limited or restricted to cook only some specific types of food.
I have been working on the caravan full time for the last 12 weeks and we have already invested over $18,000 into this project. We need your to help finish it - and there are some great revards for supporting us!
Please find us on Facebook@ZensKitchen.nz where all the photos of the progress are.…
About us:
I am 35 years old and I am originally from the Czech Republic.
I have been in the cooking industry for about 18 years.
I have started at Chefs collage, then worked in factory cooking 3000 meals a day, I worked in different restaurants, managed a Boarding House on a Ski field in the Czech Republic.
I moved to Edinburgh where I worked in 5 star hotels as Chef de Partie and pastry chef.
I moved to NZ 9 years ago and was mainly focused on working in cafes including in Wellington at Fidel's on Cuba St.
Then an opportunity arose to redesign and run the kitchen at Commonsense Organics on Wakefield St. in Wellington.
I am always interested in learning new cooking styles and I've been cooking vegan meals with my Fiancé for about 7 years. Having the opportunity to learn about organic, gluten free, nutritious meals for people with different dietary needs seemed like a great challenge to me and I really enjoyed it!
Working at Commonsense Organics really broaden my knowledge and appreciation for Organic and nutritious foods.
My Fiancé Polly has worked as a vegan baker for a number of years and is also very passionate about nutritious and healthy food.
We work well together and we are both committed to our vision of providing the best food we can.
