Hi, I'm Genevieve, I am an actor , and a writer.  Sometimes I'm a singer and a director and a producer and I've been a film maker from time to time, and a teacher here and there, but I am always a mum, and I'm always a poet.

You can find out more about me including things I've worked on in the past, on my blogcluster, (follow the link above).

Something extraordinary has come to pass.

I have been invited to tour internationally, a trans Tasman gig, four gigs actually, Auckland to Melbourne.

That's it.  It's a small international tour but a very exciting one!  International Poetry!

I haven't been to Melbourne before, I have travelled and performed petry on tour in America, and I've performed in London, and Berlin, and all over New Zealand but I haven't been away from home much since I became a mum.

That was nearly nine years ago, and the answer is um let me think...  YES  I would love to come to Melbourne for a wee tiki-tour and do a gig with GIRLS ON KEY   & at the Dan O'connell and at the Courthouse!

Itinerary goes like this:

27th August   121 cafe.  Ponsonby Auckland.

7th September   Open Studio Northcote Melbourne (Girls on Key)

15th September  The courthouse Eltham  Melbourne

17th September The Dan O'Connell Hotel  Melbourne

BUT and it's a middle sized BUT, I haven't even got a passport, or goodness gracious great balls of fire, or anything else I can even think of for Tasman hopping.  I will need a hand.

I will also be performing at the Girls on Key event in Auckland, (know as Girl talk so as not to be confusing because of a politician's name).  So you can even come there if you're in Auckland and get your presents from me there!   I tell you what it's a welcome return, because I haven't actualy performed poetry just as myself for some time.  Some eons even.  So I am really really looking forward to it.

Once I get to Melbourne I will be hooking up with my old mate Anna Kaye, aka Grace Pageant, who is an incredible singer songwriter and we wil create a piece together which is something we've been intending to do for too long. She does lyrical beautiful songs, and plays guitar, I do rythmic loud noise poems not always but as a specialty) and so there should be an interesting hybrid in there between us.

Then we'll perform together, and what we should do, is make a little recording of our song and put it online and let pledgers have a listen to it, Anna!  We should do that!

Gen's trans Tasman Poetry mini-tour adventure which includes performing and recording a song with Anna Kaye!

Ok, so I'm still working out how to put pictures up and so on..   and my computer tbh is a ah..    brontosaurus I think.

So anyway, the reason I'm fundraising, is to make sure I can cover costs.  Here's what the funds will be used for:

Ah...  a new passport.  This is important.

  • Travel costs...   My tickets are covered, but some costs I will have to pay myself, say I need to travel on a train for a short trip out of Melbourne to meet a publisher or something like that.  and TRAMS!!     :)

  • Food.  Annoying But I have to feed myself on the way.  I will not photograph cooked food.  NO   but I will explore and put things like cool things like markets on the blog.  :)

  • Making a chapbook.  Poets have to have chapbooks it's part of the deal.  That and a really good pen.  I am planning to artfully combine all my skills of papercraft to make 80 really nice little chapbooks in a limited edition.  I will sign them all, wrap them up, put a gift in each one....

  • a pen.      There is no option here.   Old school.  Ink on paper.   No skimping on costs.  I use a pen called a uni ball vision elite.   It costs 7 dollars.  But people do steal them all the time, so I will need a spare.

Honestly the costs are pretty simple.  Half the money of my goal amount is already in the Passport and making a chapbook costs.

If I meet my goal, It will make the trip possible!   Otherwise I will have to sell my car or something..    If I go over the goal by an extra $20 it would make everything actually comfortable, and another $500 would secure the deal of making a recording with Anna,  Go for gold, and pledge more ifyou want.  All proceeds here will be used to fulfil the goals of the trip..    If we had lots of dosh, we'd book a recording studio, and put our track down there...    see how we go aye?  :)

GOALS of THE TRIP

To do the performances...    Share my work with loads of fab people.
Meet new Melbourne poets and riters and artists,
Catch up with old friends, especialy Anna who has invited me, and who I want to make a performance poem / song with.
Record the song.

So.  Please share this pledge me page with your social networks, Thanks in advance.  See you on the 27, or in Autralia, or when I get back two weeks later..   & see you on the blog!
