Hello amazing humans and welcome to our first ever crowdsourcing campaign!

A bit about us

The Upper Hutt Community Youth Trust (UHCYT) was established in 2014 with the mission of connecting and journeying with young people in the community. The Trust does this by creating healthy spaces and experiences for young people that enable them to discover their worth, see new possibilities for their future, and contribute positively to the Upper Hutt community.

What's our problem?

The Trust currently relies heavily on funding and ongoing donations, but we are working hard to build sustainability into all our practices to ensure we are around for many more young people in the future. How? By buying a bus of course!

Solution

UHCYT aims to purchase a 50 seater tour coach, with substantial luggage space to enable large groups to utilise the bus for camps and tours.

In return the Trust will provide an affordable bus hire service to schools, sports clubs, businesses, anyone in the community who needs a bus, but for whom the cost normally counts them out from hiring one.

The Trust currently hires out a small 30 seater bus and knows that the service is both needed and appreciated by the community. All profits from the bus hire will go directly back into the Trust, providing sustainable funding to deliver programmes and support to vulnerable young people.

It's a win-win! We provide a valuable, cheaper service to community groups and all the profits go back into youth work in Upper Hutt!

Rewards

All rewards will be delivered within a month of the campaign closing and postage is included in the pledge amount.

UHCYT Artwork

One of our youth workers loves art and with the help of some young people has created a beautiful piece of artwork on one of the walls in our youth centre. This will be available as a print for anyone who pledges $20 or more!

UHCYT Keep Cups

Your name in lights... well on a plaque

Staff will affix a plaque with your name on it to the back of a seat on the bus. This way young people and those in the community who hire the bus will have a greater understanding of the number and names of people that came together to make a difference in our community.

A trip of your choice

You know that time in your life when you say "Man, I wish I had a bus" - well now is your chance! Pledge $1,000+ and recieve a trip for you and up to 40 friends anywhere in the Wellington region. This could be great for a wedding, big birthday bash, or work Christmas party!

Moving billboard

Here's your chance to pay a little and get a lot! The bus will be travelling locally, across the region, and further afield, so it's your chance to get maximum exposure for minimum cost. Anyone who pledges for this (and the campaign succeeds) will work together with the UHCYT to agree on a design and logo to promote your business or organisation for up to one year.

Team

The UHCYT is made up of 6 board members, a Youth Director, a Senior Youth Worker, three Youth Workers, and approximately 40 volunteers.
