About Ride into the future

We’re ‘Ride Into The Future’, a group of girls from Diocesan School for Girls in Auckland, who would like to raise $550 to buy and build bikes to donate to 3 foster kids through Fostering Kids NZ. Though children and young adults who have lost their biological families have been welcomed into the hearts and homes of many in this loving new zealand community, they still need our help and support. Even if what we’re doing is really small, a small difference is still a difference.  So we’ve decided that providing bikes for some of the children is a good place to start.

We’re neither gods nor billionaires and therefore can’t magically make bikes appear out of thin air, nor do we have the funds to buy the bikes all by ourselves. Therefore we need your help, which you can do pledging to our campaign or sharing the details of our campaign with your crowd. Those who support this campaign will recognise that every child deserves to have a supportive upbringing and you might also think bikes are really cool.

About Fostering kids NZ

More than 10,000 children in New Zealand have been identified as needing foster care. Fostering Kids NZ offers help to these children and their foster families, who open their homes and heart to the children in their care. They do this by providing support, encouragement and education to foster families to try to create the best possible environments for everyone involved.

Fostering Kids NZ currently supports one third of foster families in New Zealand. We think that all their hard work should be recognised and supported, and thus we would like to contribute to their work by providing bikes for children identified by Fostering Kids NZ.

How are we trying to help?

We need to raise $550 to buy three bikes for three kids. We want to provide bikes for foster kids because we think bikes are pretty cool and should be available to everyone. There are also lots of advantages to providing new bikes for foster family, including:

• Riding a bike can improve your health and fitness.

• Providing great opportunities for family bonding, whether it be the family riding together or the foster parents teaching their child how to ride their bike.

• Bikes are a healthy, environmentally friendly and convenient option of transportation.

• The children can also make friends with others who like cycling

• Biking is a great skill to have, and you never know, one of these kids could be the next Sarah Walker.

We want to recognise and support all the great work that Fostering Kids NZ and foster families do for our community. So, you can do your bit by supporting, pledging or sharing our campaign and if you pledge enough, we’ll throw in a sweet reward.
