I am standing for Wellington City Council this October as an independent candidate for the Lambton Ward.
So if you live in Brooklyn, Mount Vic, Highbury, Papitea, Throndon, Mount Cook, Kelburn, Te Aro, Oriental Bay, or Wellington City, I want to represent you on Council!
Why would I run a Crowd Funding a campaign?
City Council is about communities looking out for each other. We need to bring the community back to Council, and I want to make sure the community feel included from the very start. I don’t want to see another Island Bay Cycleway, where the community seemed to have been ignored!
City Council election campaigns aren’t a cheap exercise, there’s a lot to plan and organise. As a small business owner/manager I can't compete with the big political parties.
But with your help, we can take on the world. Together!
It seems that the reasons decisions aren't being made quickly in Council as too much time is being spent fiddling with minor details. We need to bring Council back on track, and start heading in the right direction, a more affirmative direction. With a City Council who want to make sure Wellington starts moving towards progress, not a City Council who simply say “No” to any task deemed to be in the too-hard-basket.
This is our city too, and we deserve to have our voices heard! We need to know that someone cares about what we want. We deserve to know that the City Council have all our interests at heart, not just the big businesses. And when stuff isn’t going the way we think it should, we need to know there's someone with whom we can chat.
Nomination process begins in July, with marketing for candidates beginning around the same time. Elections will be held at the end of September/start of October.
Let's do it Wellington! Let's work together to make our voices heard!
All pledges will receive a handwritten thank you card from Troy! We can't offer rewards for a political campaign, but we can let you know what your generous donation goes towards!
Help me get to City Council, so I can help you make Wellington the city you want it to be!
