The Turn Of The Screw: A Theatrical Gothic Experiment
Project 2016-01-12 22:16:13 +1300
Dark, intense and powerful, this theatre project will immerse the Christchurch audience into the world of a 19th century English manor house filled with mystery and eerie suspense… And there is no better setting for it than the Gloucester Room at the iconic Isaac Theatre Royal!
NO Productions Theatre Collective is a small independent theatre group based in Christchurch. Over the last four years, it has produced a number of successful small-scale shows and received positive feedback from Theatreview, The Dominion Post, The Press, Playmarket Annual and other media sources. In 2016, it plans to produce a very unusual stage rendering of Henry James's classic ghost story - the audience will be up for many surprises as we have secured the rights to perform a highly acclaimed stage adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher. Those who had a chance to see the most recent project of the troupe, Danse Macabre, a theatrical double feature performed in Ferrymead Heritage Park, can testify that this theatre collective is capable of bringing to life a good dark Gothic story.
The cast and crew of The Turn of the Screw will include Ukrainian-born producer and actress Nataliya Oryshchuk, the skilful Christchurch actor David Allen and acclaimed actor and director Michael Adams.
We aim to perform The Turn of the Screw on 24-26 March 2016. While we have received generous support from Creative New Zealand and ASB Bank who helped to subsidise the hire cost of the Gloucester room at Isaac Theatre Royal, we still need to cover the costs of the rehearsal space, lighting equipment, licencing rights, marketing and other costs. Even the modest target of this campaign will significantly help our team to reach our goal in bringing this unique theatre production to the stage…
... And what's more, our rewards are an excellent way to secure your tickets to the show, booking your entertainment for the Easter Weekend!
