Churton Park Young Actors Take On NZ Fringe!
Project 2016-01-01 15:30:50 +1300
We are Churton Park Young Actors! We’re a group of 12-16 year olds who train and create theatre in Churton Park, Wellington. This year we are participating in the New Zealand Fringe Festival as their youngest ever theatre company! We are collaborating with Wellington Young Actors, (NZ Fringe’s Best Newcomer in 2015) on an original show called Squawk, a coming of age fairytale with a modern twist.
NZ Fringe Festival gives us the opportunity to learn the in’s and out's of running a theatre company and creating and putting on an original show.
Right now we are working hard at writing, producing, fundraising and marketing Squawk to be ready NZ Fringe Festival 2016. Wellington Young Actors are mentoring us through the process, along with our teacher, Debs (Deborah Eve Rea).
Please help us with our fundraising efforts! All pledges go towards our excess production costs that can't be met by ticket sales; such as hiring a venue, lighting, sound, costumes, set and marketing.
THANK YOU!
Natalie, Brodie, Henry, Susannah, Maya, Hannah, Karina, Emily, Ria, Charm and Guinnie.

WE DID IT!

WE HAVE REACHED OUR PLEDGEME GOAL!!!
With over two weeks to go we have successfully reached and surpassed our Pledgeme goal of $1000! We are amazed at how fast we have been able to reach this goal.
Thank you to everyone who has pledged for us throughout this campaign. With this money we will be able to put on our show Squawk at the NZ Fringe Festival and perform amongst professional companies. This money will go towards lighting, props, venue, set and advertising -so look out for our posters around Wellington!
We have finished writing our scripts for Squawk, (give or take a scene) and are now working on blocking and learning lines. With only a few weeks until Squawk is put to the stage, we are working from dusk till dawn (well at least that's what it feels like). We’re are super duper excited to be putting on our first NZ Fringe show, the first of many to come we hope.
We have to wait for the campaign to end to receive our list of claimed rewards- after that we send out your rewards ASAP.
With two weeks to go, you’re welcome to keep pledging! Extra funding will go to paying someone to help us with singing and choreography as well as plump up our set and costume budget so that the design team can go beyond the bare essentials and get a real taste of designing for theatre. We could also do with some more rehearsal space hours.
We are very thankful for all of all of the support we have been given from friends, family, complete strangers and all those in between.
Lots and lots and lots of love,
Natalie, Brodie, Ria, Henry, Karina, Maya, Susannah, Hannah, Emily, Guinnie, Charm, Kate and Vanessa
Thanks to you we have raised almost 70% of our PledgeMe goal!

We love all of the support you have given us. Because of all of the amazing pledges we have gotten we have added a new reward, for pledging $70 our teacher/director Debs will gift you a lovely bottle of Peter Yealands NZ wine along with a beautiful personalized thank you card from the company.
Right now we are working on creating and finalizing scenes for Squawk. Do you like the poster we designed featuring Brodie? The flyers feature Gabe from Wellington Young Actors. We love them! With our poster and flyer done we are going full speed ahead for NZ Fringe Festival. If we make our goal of $1000 we will use some of the money to put these around Wellington.
Thank you so much and please keep sharing our campaign on your social media pages!
Lots of thanks

OMG we are already over 50% and it has only been 5 days!
We are so happy! Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged so far. Your support makes us feel really really loved and supported.
Today we had a photoshoot for our poster! We have also been working on scenes and sharing our set ideas.
We can't wait to share this show with you. It feels amazing to be doing all aspects of the production and creation of the show ourselves (with the Wellington Young Actors + our teacher's help!).
Thanks again!
