Hello my name is Grace Bentley and I am a 3rd year student at Toi Whakarri New Zealand Drama School. In 2016 we are given the opportunity to expand our relationships, experiences and craft within the arts by taking on a secondment period from Jan to Mar 2016.
So on the 31st of January 2016 I am leaving the country and heading to the big, the bad, and the beautiful L to the A Los Angeles!! I will be spending my first 2 weeks in LA studying at the Lee Strasberge Theatre and Film Institute. I will be taking classes in method acting, scene study for TV, acting for film/ tv and audition technique. Lee Strasberg was an American actor, director and acting tutor known as the father of The Method. He has taught some of the worlds best actors ie. Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Jane Fonda and many other notables. I also have plans to hopfully meet up with a great young talented film maker/DOP Kimi Juds also in LA. I will have a extra week in LA after my two week intensive to immerse myself in LA culture.
I have been working hard this summer, at the chocco factory, to save up the dollars and I have managed to cover the cost of accomodation, food and half of my course fees but I need your help to cover flights, the other half of the fees etc. So any help to meet my target pledge of $2500 to cover these expenses would really help me out!!!
This opportunity will assist me in building my craft as an actor before I head into the industry after I graduate at the end of 2016. Visiting some independent film sets will help fuel and drive my ambition of creating my own films next year...further adding tools to my tool kit! To have the oppotunity to go overseas and train in something I love to do is and was an oppotunity that I never thought would happen. But it is and I would love and appreciate any help you can give. $5 $10 $250 Tell your mum, tell your dad, tell your Aunty who loves Shorty Street (I'm not on it but still)
