About Fighting sexism in science!

Dr Nicola Gaston, Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences at Victoria University Wellington and former president of the New Zealand Association of Scientists, has written an excellent little book 'Why Science is Sexist', which summarises the evidence for science being sexist and some ideas for how to fix the problem.
We are crowdfunding to raise money to send the book to academics in decision-making roles who have the power to make real change now. We've identified several hundred academics in New Zealand we'd like to send a copy to, and reached an agreement with the publisher, Bridget Williams Books, who will send out the books on our behalf for a discounted price. They will also provide an e-copy for donors. We've decided not to make our list public at the moment, so if there is someone you want to make sure gets a copy, then choose the option that lets you nominate someone specific. If you want to send the book to someone who isn't based in New Zealand, then select the appropriate reward for your country, which includes postage and packaging.
Let's stop waiting for the old guard to retire and stamp out sexism in science now!
Thanks for your support.

The People Behind Fighting sexism in science!
I am a scientist and lecturer at the University of Auckland, where I head up the Bioluminescence Superbugs Lab. We make nasty bacteria glow in the dark to better understand how they make us sick and to find new medicines. I also love demystifying science and busting the myths that scientists are stuffy and aloof. I'm a tweeter, blogger, podcaster and radio science commentator, and have worked with graphic artists and illustrators to make animations about bioluminescence and science, and to produce public art exhibits using harmless naturally glowing bacteria.

Thanks to everyone's amazing support we've exceeded our target. You guys are amazing! We've still got a few hours to go but it's looking like we'll be sending out over 250 copies of the book to academics in decision-making roles. What a fantastic result.

Nominating someone...

Thanks for all your support so far!
A few people have asked about whether if they nominate someone, that person will know who nominated them. They won't. Instead they will receive a very nice letter, letting them know that they are being sent the book as they have been identified as someone in a decision-making role.
