My name is Pauly and I am going to Korea in November to do work with at risk youth.
A little bit about myself.
I have a past that not many people will be proud of. Over the last six years, I have turned my life around, stepping away completely from the lifestyle that would have left me 6 feet under the ground or behind the bars of a local correctional department. I am pleased to say that my life has been radically changed, free from all forms of addictions except for my love of a good cup of coffee.
I have an ongoing passion in my heart to help young people; young ones that societies usually turn their backs on. I use graffiti art as a tool to connect with youth everyday and use my life story as a testimony to people that are on a similar path as I once was.
I have previously been a youth worker at schools in
Christchurch and I currently do work with the youth in the Wellington region as
well.
Why Korea?
Recently I have been thinking about Korea a lot and I feel I can do so much to help there. I believe I can help change someones life. I have had 7 friends commit suicide and it breaks my heart each time I hear of someone taking their own life. I want to share my story and inspire them that there are other better options.
Some really good friends that helped me change my life
has recently moved to Korea to do ongoing work with the community. I feel that
now is a great opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone to partner
with them to reach out to the young people. I have a unique approach in
reaching out to this group of people that not many people would be able to
offer.
The time is now.
I want to go to Korea to build friendship and mentor youth to give them the keys to open bigger and better doors that hold brighter futures for themselves. I’m not saying that I can change the world but what I am saying is that I want to do what I can to make a difference, one life at a time. We can't put a figure on the value of their lives, and each life matters.
Would you partner with me to make a difference in the lives of these young people?
I am leaving on 1st November and returning on 1st December.
