A Taste Of Freedom In Your Kitchen

Project 2015-11-14 18:57:30 +1300

A Taste of Freedom is a selection of compassionate and delectable dishes - ranging from soups and salads and mains, to desserts, and cakes. All recipes are plant-based, and include details about allergens such as nuts, soy, and gluten. Many recipes have been donated by sanctuary caretakers, WWOOFers and helpers at working bees, and have been thoroughly tested by hungry appetites!  All proceeds will go to support the animals at the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary. We're hoping for your support to help us publish this very special fundraising cookbook.

The book is beautifully designed by Wellington artist Kate Logan, and features colour photographs and stories about the sanctuary animals, as well as recipes and photographs of selected finished dishes.
Unlike most conventional recipe books, the animals feature as persons rather than as ingredients.  A Taste of Freedom will weigh in at just over 100 pages. It will have sturdy card covers, and will be spiral bound, for easier use in the kitchen.

We're planning to print the book in early December, just in time for Christmas gifts. We'd like to thank local printers Wakefields for offering us a discounted printing rate. While we have some money raised already, community support will enable us to print 500 copies, and thus gain a better printing rate, with maximum proceeds going to the animals!

More about us

The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary's particular focus is to take in neglected, mistreated, and abandoned farm animals. We offer a refuge where they can live out their natural lives in peace and security, in the company of other animals of their own kind. Where possible we rehome to loving forever homes, but there are many animals with special needs who live permanently with us. We're run by the Animal Protection Society, a registered charity, and we're hoping for your support. In return we can offer you mouth-watering recipes and that you're supporting animals both at the sanctuary, and in your kitchen this Christmas!
