About

Habonim Dror (Habo) Youth Movement

Project 2015-11-14 14:27:10 +1300

Habonim Dror Australia New Zealand (HDANZ or Habo for short) is an international Jewish socialist youth movement. Our New Zealand chapter is needing to fundraise to keep it going.

Habo aims to bring the Jewish youth of NZ together and empower the campers with knowledge so they may be critical thinking, socially aware individuals, and active in the local and wider global community. There are fun weekly programmes throughout the year in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland. There is also resident Winter and Summer Camps bringing everyone together from around the country. Our volunteer counsellors work tirelessly for the movement.

Habo winter camp

The fundraising goal for 2015 is the contribution of Parents and Friends of Habo to bring a Shaliach from Israel to mentor and guide the counsellors in planning and running Summer Camp 2016, and keep Camp safe and secure for the 100+ campers. International research suggests that it is youth experiences like this one that build a strong Jewish identity, and ensures future leadership in our community. Help keep the momentum going - Aleh v Hagshem!

Habo Winter camp

Our team is a partnership between the Habo youth movement and the Parents and Friends of Habo. You can also join our Facebook page. Parents and Friends has been active on and off over the years, helping to support the movement and the madrichim provide an amazing experience for our youth. Some of us were chanichim ourselves, some of us have children in the movement, some of us just see the value in supporting Habo's future in New Zealand.

IMPORTANT The rewards for $250+ can only be used in Auckland or Wellington.
