Posh Pet Beds That Help Less Fortunate Animals Too
Project 2015-09-25 08:30:58 +1200
I want to start a business making high-end pet beds (tenatively known as PoshPits) and intend donating 10% of each sale to an animal charity. I have buy-in from several animal charities including the SPCA to be included on their websites, emails and Facebook pages in exchange for the 10% donation to go to their individual organisations if the order comes through their media. Eventually I will set up my own website where customers can select a charity but to keep start-up costs as low as possible I’m going to rely on animal welfare media to reach a national audience and take orders from the enquires directed back to myself. I intend starting out as a sole trader- again to keep start-up costs down - but hope to register as a company ASAP.
If you Google luxury pet beds your eyeballs will be assaulted by a horrifying mix of anything from four poster beds with leopard skin covers to something a fairy queen might sleep in, whereas I’m aiming for simple and tasteful beds that could be considered interior design.
The beds will be constructed from plywood (non-toxically) treated to look like aged/ distressed timber, and my initial range (Rustic) will have squabs covered in quality faux fur covers (e.g. rabbit, possum, squirrel). They will also be on castors to keep your pet off the ground. I’ve sourced all my suppliers and am now raring to go. A cat / small dog bed (50cm by 30cm) will retail around $300 so $30 will go to an animal charity. A small to medium dog bed (70cm by 50cm) will retail around $400 so $40 will go to animal charity, etc.
Note: shipping costs are not included in the price of a bed.
I honestly and truly believe this business can fly given the opportunity, and I’m really keen to fund as much animal welfare as possible so please help me to get this idea up and running before Christmas. For now the team will just me and my faithful rescue pets keeping me company. Thank you.
