Care Share + Wear - Wellington Region

Project 2012-08-22 07:55:44 +1200

Thank you so much to all of the generous people who have pledged and helped us reach our target! We are extremely grateful for your support in helping us to realise this initiative.

If you haven't pledged and would still like to, we would really appreciate your contribution. Anything over the target will mean we can be self sustainable for even longer and therefore able to help more children in need.

25% of New Zealand children are living in poverty. We would like to help ease the pressure on these families that are facing financial hardship by offering help through providing their children with one of life's basic needs - clothing.

Care, Share and Wear (CSW) is a not-for-profit organisation that facilitates children to help other children less fortunate than themselves.  Children are encouraged, through a collection week run at their school to donate good quality, surplus-to-needs clothing that our team collects, sorts and redistributes to children in schools where a need has been identified.

The Care, Share and Wear (CSW) initiative has been running very successfully in Taranaki for a year now and we see that the Wellington Region could really benefit from it too, and that is why we are here!

We have done all of the ground work - we are a registered charitable trust, with a team of dedicated volunteers, there are schools willing to donate, schools desperate to receive, and we are grateful to have the support of local council and community organisations.
What we don't have at the moment, is the small amount of funding we need to get this fully operational NOW.

Funding raised here will help us with such things as rental of a storage space/sorting room (this is essential to our operation), petrol vouchers for volunteers, packaging materials, laundering etc. We feel our target is modest but it will be enough to get us started and keep us going for several months at least whilst we secure more long term funding (we are lucky to have so many people offering their skills and time free of charge so costs are kept to a minimum).

We want this to be a successful campaign and therefore have keep the target realistic -
WE ONLY NEED 250 GENEROUS PEOPLE TO GIVE US $5 EACH AND WE WILL HAVE REACHED OUR TARGET!

But you don't need to stop there, we really could use anything above this amount!

CSW is such a great initiative which not only benefits the children and families who are receiving clothes but it also has a positive effect on those who are donating. To see that through a simple act, a meaningful difference can be made in someone else's life feels good! We believe that through offering an easy way to recycle/reuse clothing that we are helping to reduce some waste at the same time too. We will be using cornstarch rather than plastic bags to pack clothing in.

If you would like more information on the initiative or if you'd like to volunteer please email us [email protected]
