Help Victoria Get To THIMUN 2016

Project 2015-08-07 16:55:03 +1200

THIMUN is ’The Hague International Model United Nations”,  which is a simulation of the United Nations  that aims to educate students about  topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. THIMUN draws 4000 students from around the world to The Hague every year for five days of intense discussions and debate.

The New Zealand delegation, organised by UN Youth NZ, will travel for four weeks from New York to various places of global significance such as Amsterdam, Geneva, Paris, Berlin and Rome, each place offering the chance to meet UN diplomats and New Zealand representatives, all before the THIMUN conference at The Hague. The theme for THIMUN 2016 is Sustainable Urbanisation.

I have been to two UN Youth conferences, the most recent being in Wellington for the New Zealand Model United Nations (NZMUN), where I was honoured to receive a scholarship from the Norwegian Consulate to represent Norway’s view on global topics. It was from here that I was selected in a very competitive environment to attend THIMUN 2016.

About me:

I am a year 13 student and Head Girl at Papamoa College.  I am actively involved within my school and wider community. I have attended the Aotearoa Youth Declaration forum, the Sir Peter Blake Youth Environmental Leaders Forum and represented New Zealand at the Young Reporters for the Environment conference in Cyprus in 2014.

On my return I will attend Victoria University, to undertake a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Environmental and Development studies. THIMUN offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to experience the inner workings of international relations and politics, an arena where I see myself in the future.

Thank you for taking an interest in my fundraising effort. Please feel free to forward this to someone you know who may be interested in supporting me.

Narrated by & special thanks to Papamoa College Principle Mr Steve Lindsey.
