Southern String Alliance: Americana::Folk Concert To Grow Lipedema Awareness, And Support Therapies And Treatments

Musicians supporting musicians!
The Southern String Alliance is a live performance by five Americana/Folk bands to celebrate musical connections within the Americana/Folk genre in New Zealand while lending our support to one of their own who is battling a debilitating disease.
Five bands:
Lipedema is a disease involving abnormal fat deposition that can result in pain, immobility and lymphatic disturbances. It can be inherited, it affects mainly women, it cannot be treated with diet and exercise. In fact, there are very few effective treatments at all, and they are expensive.
Heather Carrigan is a member of Hot Diggity. She is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and an superbly talented vocalist. She has struggled unknowingly with lipodema, and was finally diagnosed in 2015. Effects of the disease are already starting to impact her mobility, her quality of life, and her ability to make great bluegrass music!
Our goal is to raise money for Heather's treatments and therapies, and raise awareness about lipodema.
A note about buying tickets to the show: if you choose the Ticket reward option we are going to be pre-buying your ticket before the closing of the campaign to reserve you the best available seats. If we don't meet our funding goal, you will still have a ticket with a great seat reserved for you. If you want more than one ticket, just increase the pledge amount to reflect the number of tickets and send us a note saying how many you want!

We think you'll all realise why we think she's so special and worthy of our help when you hear her sing and play!
