Sinister shadows, mysterious sounds and thrilling tales – Christchurch is well overdue for another instalment of supernatural stagecraft!

In Winter 2014, audiences were chilled by Whistle and I’ll Come to You, an adaptation of the classic M.R. James ghost story of the same name, performed at the Edwardian township of Ferrymead by NO Productions Theatre Collective (My Beautiful Disaster, Unforgotten, Monster Wars). We are proud to continue this tradition with Danse Macabre, featuring not one but TWO original adaptations of the stories Casting the Runes and The Monkey’s Paw. Set in the 1920s-30s, this new adventure also invites its audience on an interactive twilight journey through the grounds of Ferrymead village– what shadows might be lurking there?

Danse Macabre will be brought to life by a diverse and talented cast and crew including Ukrainian-born producer, writer, director and actress Nataliya Oryshchuk; local musician, actor and director Daniel Webster; gifted choreographer, dancer and actor Cameron Mason; young soundscape creator Colter Carson; the popular and experienced Christchurch actor Michael Adams; and the talented young actors Gwilym Wogan and Yvette Bensemann.

We intend to perform Danse Macabre on 19-21 November, with rehearsals beginning in September. Unfortunately, while we have no shortage of talent amongst us, we cannot say the same for our funds. We need to cover the costs of the rehearsal space, venue hire, lighting and sound equipment, as well as set, props and marketing. If we can raise enough to meet the modest target of this campaign, it will significantly help our team in bringing this unique theatre production to the stage.

Help us bring this gothic adventure to post-quake Christchurch, and check out our rewards: this is an excellent way to secure your tickets... and our eternal love!
