JOCELYN CARLIN        www.minniestreet.co.nz

was a photographer…

until she contracted the rare disease known as MSA, Multiple Systems Atrophy. It‘s completely random and gradual, it is neurological, and she now has little control of speech, is unable to walk thus confined to a wheelchair, so certainly not able to be a photographer.

'It’s about time I came out, so to speak, about this', she  says, 'Im  very shy about the wheelchair, not being able to speak, or in fact do anything, about the whole disability'.

But over the years she has written and kept the stories from behind the scenes, and quite spontaneously formed the basis of a book.

In all it is a fascinating and inspiring tale of the life of a photographer; good for dipping into, educational in many ways, and witty.

Jocelyn has made a project that has fallen into place, into the realms of good taste and quality.

A beautiful book, where photography is the hero and the writing is informative and entertaining.

This is a not-for-profit project, so that any money made over the cost of the book, and getting to you, goes to MSA Research N.Z, through the Neurological Foundation.

The project needs support, and in the world of crowd-funding Jocelyn believes the fairest most honest way to do this is to buy the book in advance. There are other rewards too.

We are nearly at the end of Jocelyn's Campaign and it is with great satisfaction and thanks to all the supporters that we have reached our target.

However, there is nothing stopping anyone pre-paying/pledging on a book over the next few days!

We will be contacting all pledgers when the campaign finishes (August 22nd) to give a timeline on the publication progress and information on distribution of the other rewards..

We have had an amazing reaction to the Video - which was made by Jocelyn's niece, Courteney Peters.

I have to tell you that the vid was never meant to be a 'sympathy grabber' - it just tells it like it is!

When Joc and I first saw it we both burst into tears - we hadn't really seen or thought of her as being 'that disabled' before.

So heartfelt thanks for all your support - I think we're 'gonna do it'.

We're off to a great start after less that 24hours - Thank you so much
