Nashville Album Recording

Project 2012-08-12 22:23:51 +1200

Grammy Award winning producer Tim O’Brien has asked the independent NZ duo Tattletale Saints to come to Nashville and record an album with him and Grammy Award winning engineer David Ferguson.

Tim O’Brien won a Grammy Award for his 2005 recording Fiddler’s Green, and is one of Americas top bluegrass and acoustic songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and producers.

The band (guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Cy Winstanley and double bassist/vocalist Vanessa McGowan) will travel to Nashville, Tennessee in January 2013 to record at the Butcher Shoppe Recording Studio with Grammy Award winning engineer David Ferguson. The studio is part owned by acclaimed singer-songwriter John Prine and is the birthplace of many of Johnny Cash’s hit records.

Cy of Tattletale Saints says, “It’ll be a huge honor to work with Tim, Vanessa and I have been massive fans for a long time and he’s right up there with the best in the world for our style of music. Plus, to cut the record in John Prine’s studio in Nashville…that’s serious business!”

O’Brien is supporting the independent duo by keeping the costs as low as possible but the cost of the studio, production, mastering and flights to Nashville will still cost $20,000 NZD and this is where the band needs your help to bring this opportunity to fruition.

The band will cover the cost of pressing the album and the postage for all the rewards claimed so every cent you pledge will go towards the actual recording of the album, and seeing this Tennessee dream become a reality.

New Zealand Tour 2013 - Tattletale Saints coming to a town near you

26/09/2012 at 7:10 AM

We've had our noses to the grindstone (or the emails and spreadsheet in this case) and are pleased to give you a preview of the confirmed towns on our New Zealand album release tour next year.

If you were thinking of pledging for the reward with tickets to a show but weren't sure we'd be coming your way, here you go!

We'll be touring in May/April with a box of albums fresh off the press and have confirmed the following:

Auckland
Whangarei
Raglan
Thames
Te Pahu
Wanganui
Tokomaru
Wellington
Napier
Wairoa
Gisborne
Hanmer Springs
Picton
Nelson
Dunedin
Oamaru
Invercargill
Christchurch

We have room for a couple more and would love to play in Geraldine, Greymouth and Wanaka but can't find venues yet (Franks in Greymouth seems to have closed and the Riverhouse in Wanaka is taking a break) so send any ideas our way and we'll try to make it happen.

Nashville - Stetson hats and pearly white teeth

As we write this update we are at $10,220 which is over halfway and already slip sliding towards the final goal. Thanks everyone who has pledged so far, we have been blown away by your generosity and support.

There was a wee flurry of pledges just after our Good Morning performance on Friday. If you missed it (or just want to watch it again), here's a link to the two songs. We debuted one of the songs we've just finished for the album, "Emily".
