About

Peter Pan The Musical

Project 2015-05-06 11:38:12 +1200

Kerikeri Theatre Company Charitable Trust involves over 80 community members in cast and production crew, here in this fantastic show that includes singing, dancing, acting, stunt work, sword fighting, pirates, fairies, mermaids, and more than just a sprinkling of fairy dust!

Why did we undertake this production?

  • To give young actors the opportunity to receive professional training in the performing arts
  • To offer performing arts as a tool for building self esteem and confidence
  • To utilise the incredible skills in our community
  • To give the Far North community the opportunity to see quality, local theatre
  • To bring magical entertainment to a wide audience in our community

Actors for two casts, range in age from 6 to 56! In the creation of their roles, actors have undertaken a 5 month training programme to prepare  for the demands of the show. This has included acting rehearsals, dance rehearsals, vocal training, stage combat, and a week-long theatre camp at a Marae, with intensive workshops and character development. Weekly rehearsals result in over 200 hours of training in the last 6 weeks, with plenty more to come!

Tink & Hook

As the show draws near (first week of July!) we are desperately trying to collect funds together to uphold the final elements of the show.

We began this project, knowing we would be up against some major costs with our venue hire, and pulling off some of the major technical requirements of the show. We enthusiastically made applications to funding bodies with the hope of reaching our targets, but due to the demand on funds we have only received half or less, than what we have asked for.

We have a community of incredible, supportive families who have undertaken bake sales, stalls at the local market, sausage sizzles, Tinkerbell and Pirate days among other creative ideas, to search for funds. Local businesses have donated items for raffles, and we are trying our very best with all avenues available to us.

And now we turn to pledgeme, to try to close the gap :)
