My name is Dreydon Sobanja and in March 2013 I self-published two children's picture books to help inspire NZ kids to 'dream big.' I established the company Inspired Kids Ltd as a hobby business to publish the books and also created a website www.inspiredkids.co.nz and social media integration on Facebook to connect with kids. The books were very well received, but only to the point where the costs of producing them were covered and not all of the costs of marketing including the website development. I also travelled the country going to schools and libraries holding free 'dream sessions' for kids where I was able to inspire them, read to them and help them understand the concepts of following and achieving their dreams.
Since then I have not been able to publish any further books due to either lack of support from the Kiwi icons that I have made the subject matter, or due to the upfront financial commitment required to write, publish and market a book.
However, I have recently have had great news that Inspired Kids are very likely to be publishing an illustrated story for children aged 8 to 12 years old about a Kiwi icon that has been instrumental in cutting a path for many NZ motorsport enthuiasts to follow. It is likely that I will take the full financial responsibility for the project, so any help I can get towards covering the costs will be welcome.
The best way I can think of to fund this project is to sell as much as possible of the current book stocks and to offer bookings for dream sessions once the new book has been published.
It is estimated that the total amount of funding required to write, illustrate, design, publish and market the book, including the costs of delivering the reward books, is around $20,000. However, I am only seeking $10,000 because I will cover the remaining amount personally through the company.
The rewards cost less than you would normally pay RRP for the books and dream sessions.

One Step Closer

We are now one step closer to havng the support of the trust that looks after the Kiwi icon's legacy that the third book will be about. A very positive telephone conversation with the trust's administrator today should see a meeting set-up for hopefully next week.
It is hoped that after that meeting we will be able to publicise the name of the Kiwi icon and details about the book project and kick this funding campaign up another gear.
Thanks again to those who are already supporting the campaign! :-)
Third Book Illustrator and Designer

The inspiration for the third book in the Inspirational Kiwis series actually came from a graphic designer and urban artisit, Murray. He discovered one of the other books in a bookshop up North and had a sudden burst of inspiration to illustrate a book about his NZ motorsport idol. I've met with Murray a couple of times and love the illustrative style and overall book design he will bring to the project. We will meet again on Friday the 1st of May to get our final plan together to meet with the trustees of this particular Kiwi icon. We will keep you informed.
