The Learning Collaborative's Launch Campaign

Project 2015-03-20 01:38:54 +1300

----Woohooo! Thank you everyone! We've just hit our $10,000 mark today, and our campaign has officially met its target thanks to your support! A massive thank you to each and every one of our supporters, we would be nothing without you all - it's been heartwarming to have your backing, support and generosity throughout this campaign, and we look forward to carrying on this journey with each and every single one of you :)

***** Introducing our stretch goal of $11,000! With such overwhelming support, we thought we'd introduce our stretch goal of $1,000 more for the potential to open our group sessions to the general public too! This extra $1,000 would allow us to purchase the administration software needed to reach much larger numbers, and while we've always hoped to do this in the long term, we might just be able to bring it even sooner with your support! *****

The Learning Collaborative (TLC) is a youth-led, non-profit initiative with the vision of putting every student in full control of their own educational success, no matter their circumstance. We’re a bunch of young, passionate New Zealanders with an enthusiasm for learning, and we are really keen on using our skills to give all young kiwis a shot at an incredible education.

To do this, we aim to:

  • Combine the best of tutoring and mentoring to deliver academic coaching -  going beyond the content-driven nature of traditional tutoring to develop holistic learners;

  • Recruit coaches who are relatable, enthusiastic role-models, who have recently been there themselves and are eager to help students become self-driven learners;

  • Design truly tailored services which can address the needs of each student by investing in long-term coach-student relationships.

As part of a 6 week pilot phase, we've partnered with 3 schools - Howick College, Massey High School and Southern Cross Campus. Through this pilot phase, we have been able to design our services in partnership with the schools and students, ensuring its effectiveness in the real world. We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback so far, with more demand than we can currently handle!

With our pilot phase now coming to an end, we now feel ready to take our organisation to the next level and reach more students through coaching. To do so, we need your help to get there. We are aiming to raise $10,000 as a bare minimum for covering our start-up and operational costs, and ensure that our service is affordable to students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

To give some perspective, this $10,000 will help us deliver 100 terms of academic coaching in our first year. We don't receive any of the money we raise if we don't reach $10,000, so we really need your support to get us over the line!

Are you willing to chip in? Whether it’s contributing yourself or spreading the word to your friends and networks, every contribution you make will go towards enriching the educational journeys of young people across New Zealand!

So join us, and help make a difference in young New Zealanders’ lives today - it would mean the world to our team, our students, and our schools to have you on board. :)

Crowdfunding Update 4 - Final Stretch

04/04/2015 at 9:53 PM

There's just two days to go and all we can say is thank you!

We're feeling a bit ambitious for these last two days, and thought with our final update to share our $11,000 stretch target which would help us even more by funding event management software to run our coaching.

Off course we've got to reach the $10,000 mark first to guarantee the campaign's success, but we're hoping that for one final time, with your help, we can reach even this ambitious goal!

It's the final chance in the campaign so we'd love to have your help spreading the word about our stretch goal.

Finally, enjoy our fourth and last video update - it's been a wonderful journey and we're glad you've been with us - we hope you'll enjoy the final two days with us too!

Crowdfunding Update 3 - We're so close + Introducing our Stretch Goal!

03/04/2015 at 1:42 PM

Wow, it's been an incredible week and a half so far! In that time, we've been featured in The North Shore Times, got to present our project at a TEDx Launch event and have raised almost $9,500 of our $10,000 target!

To highlight your generosity, we've put together a video of some of the pledgers and why they chose to back us, as well as thank-yous to our latest donors (this isn't up-to-date anymore though!).

Finally though, because of this awesome support, we thought we'd introduce our stretch goal of $1,000 which would allow us to purchase the administration software needed to reach much larger numbers, and while we've always hoped to do this in the long term, we might just be able to get it even sooner with your support!

So once again, thank you all for your tremendous generosity, just three more days to go!

Crowdfunding Update 2 - We're Halfway there!

30/03/2015 at 9:36 PM

We've reached halfway through our two week campaign and we've also just reached our halfway milestone of $5,000 too!

So thank you all so much for your support so far, it's been absolutely incredible!

Here's to another week of full momentum, which we can only do with your help! So please, if you share our passion for improving equitable education, help us by encouraging your friends, family and colleagues to contribute too - it would mean the world to us!

Together, we'll be able to reach the $10,000 mark to ensure we can help more young students fulfill their potential :)

Crowdfunding Update 1
