FACULTY | NATIONAL WORKSHOP TOUR
We are a new dance company who go by the name of FACULTY. We are commercial dancers who have trained at a high level and worked internationally and we now want to start feeding our knowledge and expertise to the next generation of dancers in this country. Hence the national tour.
We want to hit the main cities: Dunedin, Christchurch, Nelson, Wellington, Napier and Auckland. We would like to hit more and really go hard by going absolutely everywhere but we're thinking that might be best saved for another time, when we've got this one under our belt. The tour will take just under two months as we'll be working the weekends.
Anyway, the basics of it are: -Big, day long workshops in each city, featuring two of New Zealand's top commercial dance artists
-Opportunities for young dancers to be chosen for "Professional Development" programs run in Auckland later in the year
-The chance for us to share our art with the next generation of aspiring performers
An estimated budget is shown below:
We're looking at something like $5,400 in costs (if we're paying ourselves $1800). Depending on the turn out at each workshop, we could make some of it back through class sales. The main idea for this is getting to know the wider dance community so we're not too fussed if we don't make a killing.
Here's a little blurb about us:
Faculty is a company dedicated to bringing the most skilled dance tutors to New Zealand dancers. At the core of the company are Andrew Jones and Oscar Wilson. Both have years of experience in the professional entertainment industry and have worked and taught internationally. Faculty’s goal is to help create a self-sufficient dance industry in NZ so that dancers can make a living doing what they love and focus on creating the best art possible.
Having over 15 years collective experience dancing in the professional industry, Andrew and Oscar are leaders in their field. Both have trained internationally (Millenium, Debbie Reynolds, Studio 68, Brent Street) and have worked with recording artists such as Stan Walker, Willy Moon, Benny Tipene and Brian McFadden to name a few. Andrew and Oscar have choreographed for X Factor NZ, Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park, Fight For Life, Vodafone Warriors and both have had international success at competitions World Hip Hop Champs (Finalist) and World Of Dance NY (1st Place).
Their stage/screen credits include X Factor Aus/NZ, So You Think You Can Dance Australia, Australia’s Got Talent, Sydney Choreographers’ Carnival, Miss Universe NZ.
