Ra And Marama - A One Shot Collective Film

Project 2015-02-24 22:29:30 +1300

The Oneshot Collective is a new independent filmmaking initiative bringing together twelve filmmakers to create a collective feature-length film scheduled for completion by mid-2015. www.oneshotcollective.co.nz

Ra and Marama delves into finding out why it is you come across certain people that you have interesting experiences with. It asks what you are learning about with each other, or perhaps what even binds you together. So we encounter a glimpse, a meeting of two people: one, a travelling free spirit who has become caught in a daze, set in her ways of exploring and capturing the world and as much of it as possible. So she goes from place to place; lost, pretending to be found. And we have a man, stuck in his own mind, in an isolate place otherwise known as no where, nurturing the land that he is chained too, waiting and hoping for something to lead him to the answers he can't seem to find.

OUR CAST

LIZ KIRKMAN

Our female lead, Liz Kirkman, as Grace, has been with Ra and Marama from the beginning stages, helping to craft it's direction and providing helpful insight into the world of her character and what it is to be her. Myself and Liz have spent great time in growing the script and She has had upmost passion and care for the vision of our story and her Character in the film. It has been a long time growing for myself and Liz to work intimatley and effectively for on screen performance, I CAN'T WAIT!

JAMIE MCKASKILL

Jamie is our silver lining and bright light for our lead male character, Kirk. He has a massive range of skills and experience, providing as a very fitting and great look for the film. Jamie has a great grasp of the character he is to mould into: providing as a contrast, a very still, wise and intriguing character for us to follow.

Jamie, Liz and myself will be working very closely and intimatley on character depth and understanding for the film and i am itching to get into the nitty and gritty with these great people!

Ra and Marama is inspired by films like; The fountain. And is drawn from a experience of my own, moulding together ideas of soul and tranquiility all set in abundant NZ forest and view. It will take you away to a world of stillness.

Ra and Marama has had an incredible amount of support from the net work of Oneshot collective, coming from our producers of the entire project but also the associated directors and story tellers, we are growing to attract attention by compoosers, editors and support networks from the wider Wellington and NZ film community, this film and what it is a part of has been growing for over 6 months and now it is time for it to hit the ground running so we can get it made.

So i ask of you, who have watched and read this far - please give - whatever you can, for the belief and interest of what my team and myself can create, a short film with taste and quality. I hope to fufill your expectations when you watch it :)

THE TEAM

BRANDON TE MOANANUI

Brandon Te Moananui is the Director of photography for this film, who will be guiding the camera and our look, he has been a good friend of mine ever since we graduated the New Zealand Film school and i have done the majority of my film projects with his talent and camaraderie, a true support beside me. Myself and Brandon will be working closely on the visual elements of this film, giving it life, light and style for the audience to enjoy.

LEIGH MINARAPA

Leigh Minarapa is a lively and bright team player who will bring a lot of energy and direction into the marketing and awareness of Ra and Marama. She brings journalistic qualities and talent to share our vision to the people in our word, she is providing insight and is a valuable team member of our film's production.

ALANA HENDERSON

Alana is Ra and Marama's project Manager. She is a bubbly and organised person to be behind us all, directing our focus and taking care of how we will get everyone involved right through to where we need to be, she is a valuable team member to the film and has a lot of passion and energy for the creation of our story. Alana will be working hard and full on, with the logistical side of things and how this is all going to work to get us all across the finish line.
