About

Agape Home - Children Impacted By The Spread Of HIV::Aids Across Thailand

Project 2015-02-24 18:09:10 +1300

Hi, my name is Kate Cowan and on the 14th of March 2015 I am leaving from Auckland New Zealand to Bangkok. A few days later I am then travelling Chiang Mai, Thailand with my friend Paris Wilkins.

A friend then told me about this amazing place called 'Agape Home' in northern Thailand (where we will be heading). After further research I became moved and so inspired with what they do and the service they provide to the Children in their care.

Children come to Agape Home to live because they are or at risk of being HIV positive. Many of them have already lost their parents to AIDS, and there are no other options for their care.

Agape Home provides a loving family for 100+ children aged 0-21yrs.

Because I know that I am going to be in Chiang Mai, I sent an email to a lovely lady called Marilyn Pyatt who works at the home and we have made arrangements for myself and Paris to come visit. We want to spend a bit of time helping out in any way we can, we will be fortunate enough to meet the children and have the opportunity to see around the home.

We are wanting to provide a donation to these children – as well as giving our time. I thought the best way would be to create this page so I can reach out to those who have a few dollars to spare. Agape Home is licensed under the Department of Welfare in Thailand. They depend entirely on Sponsorships and Donations to fund the projects of Agape Home. Also if anyone has any toys/ small souvenirs they have to spare I also want to bring some little bits and pieces like that. Keeping in mind I only have 20ks to carry on the plane. Marilyn tells me they love lollies so I already have been accumulating New Zealand’s famous Pineapple Lumps to give out.

I don’t expect to raise heaps- as it is a short time frame but I do believe that because this is such an amazing cause we can certainly provide them with something to make a difference.

Please share with your family and friends and hopefully the word will get out
