350 Aotearoa For Auckland!!

Project 2012-07-09 00:46:36 +1200

We are fundraising to set up an Auckland branch of 350 Aotearoa at The Kitchen, a collaborative work-space in central Auckland

We are hoping (with some funds from amazing people like you!) to get an office space at The Kitchen for the newly formed 350 Aotearoa crew in Auckland. The Kitchen is a new collaborative working space in Auckland that supports fledgling NGOs, change makers, and innovators working for social good! From this space we hope to support our volunteers, connect with other like-minded change makers in Auckland, gain the business and project development support we need, and utilise the collaboration opportunities that The Kitchen offers.

To do this we are fundraising to pay for our office membership for the first year. The Kitchen will subsidise some of the fees through a fund they have to support new not-for-profits to get involved in this exciting new work space. But we still need to raise the remainder of the funds.

We are asking you, our whanau to help us get established in Auckland!! By pledging just a small amount, and getting gifts in return!! Yay!

We are passionate about getting a strong Auckland crew up and cranking in support of 350 Aotearoa's mission!

350.org is part of a global movement of grassroots organisers who are joining together to take action to solve the climate crisis. 350 parts per million is the scientifically proven safe level of CO2 in our atmosphere. We’re already in the danger zone- at 394 ppm and rising at 2ppm per year.

350 Aotearoa is the New Zealand arm of the international campaign (350.org) to unite the world around solutions to climate change. We are 350 based in Wellington and have been up and running for the past few years. We support grassroots climate organisers with education and leadership skills to engage their communities in climate action across NZ and the Pacific. We’ve also organised a bunch of huge climate action days around NZ.

In Auckland we’ve had a small team of organisers who have been getting together on-and-off to organise Auckland actions. We want to change this. We want to see a see a strong and committed team of Aucklanders, working to bring change in our city.

We are a volunteer run organisation passionate about developing and supporting climate solutions projects – things like community gardens, green roofs, white roofs, renewable electricity generation, active transport projects and the like!

At this point we have no funds or assets, but just a massive amount of energy to build a committed Auckland team, and the support of the 350.org global movement.

We will also keep you updated with our progress throughout our first year.
